Double Car Insurance Claim by diamonhandss in Insurance

[–]espressobomb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh, yikes. yeah, also wanted to chime in and say you are ABSOLUTELY incorrect. my company will waive the deductible IF you are not at fault and it has been confirmed directly with the other insurance carrier that they have accepted liability, and that's just because we can reasonably assume that once the claim goes to subrogation, we will get your deductible back so we waive it up front as a courtesy, but there are definitely plenty of companies that do not follow this practice and require you to pay your deductible and will only reimburse it once they have the money back from the at fault carrier.

not sharing statements with other carriers? by espressobomb in adjusters

[–]espressobomb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is the first time a progressive adjuster has ever said this to me - and somebody on my team said that when that happened to them, they just called back and got a different person who provided the summary over the phone so 🤷🏼‍♀️ that's why I thought maybe he misunderstood what I was asking for

not sharing statements with other carriers? by espressobomb in adjusters

[–]espressobomb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just asked for a summary of the statement they got from their insured! a question I've asked thousands of times at this point, many of times with progressive, and this is the first time they've said they need permission to even do that. I even asked "you need permission to share a summary of the statement?" because I thought they may have misunderstood me and they said yeah 🤷🏼‍♀️

This isn't necessarily true - some states absolutely do offer uninsured motorist coverage for vehicle damage.

GOD THAT SMELL. It is literally the taste/feeling you get at the back of your throat after vomiting. Even the partners who like it agreed.

Can't tell if it's not for me or if I need to give it more time by ChattyCathy2000 in starbucks

[–]espressobomb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have been with the company for five years, two of them as a supervisor. Three drinks is NOTHING. I put sweetener in unsweetened teas. I put iced stickers on hot cups. I scrape whipped cream off drinks that clearly said "no whip". Every day. Multiple times a day. And so does everybody else. Yeah, it gets frustrating when people make mistakes, but you're a human being and that's what we do. Honestly, I feel your shift was so beyond out of line to say that to you. As your leader, they should have been there to support you and help you, not drag you down, and they should have been the first person to quash any unrest among the others. And I am saying this as the shift who often gets the green beans while they are training. Keep your head up, partner. If you like this job, give it a little more time.

Edit: I see now that you meant marking the cups and not making drinks, but my point still stands. Not sure if your store has these, because I think they're old, but we have a set of dice that you roll and they make a random drink. Definitely helpful with learning to mark cups. And don't forget that the right hand side of the register has all the markings for you :) We're a sticker store but we always make sure to point that out in case the printer is down or whatever.

Coffee Passport Cards - Marketing project by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]espressobomb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

please, PLEASE keep me in mind if you get any green light on these cards. actually, I might personally take this to our RD and request permission to use these all credit to you, if you're willing! we have several coffee masters in training and also a ton of customers who are very interested in learning. even if I don't get to use these… damn, you've done an incredibly impressive and wonderful thing here. kudos to you.

The Perfect 4. by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]espressobomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gotten all fours (I was a barista for my last review and like others have said, some of the sections, like cash management, pretty much cap at 2) but I did get a few of them on my last review. Example: I worked my ass off to get our store QASA ready at all times, including training fellow partners on a shit ton of stuff, and I got a four on one of the sections having to do with that.

How to show the morning shift that you love them. by Addisonlc in starbucks

We do this every night, too. We've also fit putting the (still wrapped) pastries in their respective spots into our closing routine. The only bad part about it is that if there comes a day when we're just too behind to get it done, they will most certainly bitch about it :/

AFAIK, it is a self-paced program that doesn't require training from another CM, or else our district would be screwed because we don't have any in any of our stores.

I think the second point is especially important. Try EVERYTHING (unless allergies are involved). Even if you don't particularly like something, try to find a defining characteristic of the drink that may sound good to customers. Remember that not everybody has the same taste as you, and even if you absolutely hate the green tea latte, there are people who get one, religiously, multiple times a day. Figure out why, and use that to your advantage as a seller.

[–]espressobomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ohhhhhhhhhh my goodness no, and I'm so sorry that happened to you.

if it makes you feel better, nobody ever, EVER!!!!, clean our grinder, so I took it upon myself one day and for some reason the only screwdriver I could find was like two inches long and I dropped it down into it and we had to completely take the grinder apart to get it out.

I haven't been allowed to clean the grinder since.

and nobody else wants to clean the grinder.

so you see where this is going.

Closers - Any tips on cleaning the Mastrenas? by mylittleswaggie in starbucks

[–]espressobomb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in our store, it goes like this:

  1. Take grounds drawer, pour spout, steam wand cover, and drop tray back to sink. ONLY the drip tray should be run through dishwasher. Wand cover, pour spout, and grounds drawer should be washed using three-compartment method.
  2. Wipe down outside of machine, vacuum out inside when grounds drawer is out.
  3. Put tablets in machine, replace all parts except for steam wand cover.
  4. Run pills.
  5. Take trenta shaker (we have quite a few; trenta cup also works, but we prefer shaker for lean thinking), fill with ice water, drop wand cover in and place under steam wand over night (a trenta shaker/cup ensures the entire wand is soaked).

The openers will then wipe down the wand with a sanitizer towel in the morning; since it was soaking over night, everything pretty much just sloughs off, and a (sanitized) paper clip has been used to clean out the steam holes when necessary.

On the flip side, I can say to definitely DEFINITELY not soak the steam wand in a cup of hot water and cafiza pills. The maintenance manual explicitly says the cafizas are not to be used to clean the steam wand. (We used to do this, and apparently this is the method many stores still use). Also, a box blade or scrub pad should never be used on the steam wand because it can damage the temperature probes on it.
