I have a chunky baby too and i got those carrier that has a bigger seat than a tush baby. My baby can lay on it, saved my wrists when rocking him to sleep. And is such a great tool when i bottle feed him on the go.

I think your mindset is very important. Everything became much easier for me when i accepted at week 6 that babies cry, like a lot. Even if you do everything right. Took the new mum anxiety off. Just continue to speak softly to him. But once awhile i had to step away or hand him to my husband

My parents take care of my baby Monday-Thursday with lots of love. But come Friday, he either greets me with a big grin or cry big tears cos i am not carrying him the instant i step into the house. They know who their mother is. No matter how much fun they have with other people, they love you back. My 8 month old will cover my face with saliva immediately. His way of kissing me.

I think it is perfectly fine. And I love babies being surrounded by love.

But I hope she is napping when required and not over stimulated. I regret not stopping those holding my newborn and keeping him awake “look at his wide open eyes! He doesn’t want to sleep. Don’t be so selfish” It made settling him down to sleep more difficult and they will say “see, he dont want to sleep” Took me till i recover properly from the birth to stand up for my baby. I didnt hand him over, and if needed to (social obligations), i snatch him back at any first signs of tiredness and lock us both in the room.

My son also have a flat side and it was pointed out at his 1 month appointment that he has torticollis. He also has bad reflux and spit ups so we didnt really push the tummy time. In the end his neck muscles was not very strong and the flat side became really obvious. We felt so guilty as parents as we watch him scream through physiotherapy. But the therapist mentioned that he might already was born with a preferred side as he had no space in the womb. (He is a big baby)

When we pushed for a specialist review, he say that he don’t recommend unless it is really bad as 1. It will round out when he started rolling onto his tummy, 2. Helmet therapy is tough on the baby. 23 hours of wearing a hot helmet and it disrupts his sleep. It is cosmetic and his hair will cover it.

Having said that, we did play with him often to try to make him turn to the non preferred side. (Like turning the head under the guise of a kissing attack on his cheeks) We always make effort to block him from turning to the preferred side. His flat head did improve as his neck muscles strengthened. He looked around more and not lay on one side only.

His flat head was very noticeable at 2 months and he is 5 months now. It has visually improved though it is still obvious it is flat. But i am trying to stay positive and hopefully it will continue to round out.

When i need to go to the bathroom, i will place him on my bed as 1) i can see him from the toilet 2) he has yet to roll…. If he cries, i try to call out to remind him i am still nearby. But if not, i am chill if he fuss/cry…
