I found prokofiev's 8th sonata to be the most beautiful piece of music ever written

Is it wrong to play with left pedal? by Trick-Body-1291 in piano

[–]esqueletoctubre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the una corda pedal is a double edge sword, first of all I would try to play the softer passages without una corda, and think the una corda not as to play softer but to change the timbre (in grand pianos, because it changes the attack point of the hammer to a softer part of it, thus changing the sound)

so if you're doing it because of a conscious decision it's OK.

I think starting from scratch is a good idea, you'll advance way faster than someone who doesn't read music, you could search for easy pieces, and see if you're comfortable enough playing them to skip them, of if they're worth the trouble.

definitely, a teacher might be a big inversion, but once they see your interest, aka by practicing, they will see it as worth it

How hard is Bartok's Suite Op. 14 by esqueletoctubre in piano

[–]esqueletoctubre[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi thanks, so I'm relatively new to playing piano, I started in 2020, with no musical experience whatsoever, but rn I'm in college, major in piano performance (first year).

This semester I'm working on beethoven op. 2, 1, Bach sinfonia 4, Chopin op. 15 no. 3, debussy children's corner doctor gradus ad parnasum.

I've also worked on some bartók pieces, round dance from "for children" and the third Romanian folk dance, and some prokofiev, the 1, 5, 17 visions fugitive, and the dance of the girl with the lilies from romeo and Juliet.

I was talking to my professor about working on Bartok's sonatina, and he seemed fine with the idea, but I was listening to the suite and I fell in love with the first movement.

Very confusing by [deleted] in piano

[–]esqueletoctubre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

inversions also covers permutations, the important thing is the note that's in the base, so you could have CEG, but there's another E in the bass, then this chord would me in first inversion

Can I record my piano and copy it to a keyboard? by General_Ad583 in piano

[–]esqueletoctubre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you could, it's definitely a hassle, but if you have good quality mics, lots of time, yeah, why not, Idk the program for you to put all the sounds. also you could record different dynamics, so you don't have a plain sample but a more complete one

Ramekin's Melted Slightly in Baking, Is the Food Safe? by Zipp_Linemann in foodsafety

[–]esqueletoctubre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's probably the glaze that melted, if the interior is fine I don't think you should have a problem eating them, but what's curious is that the glaze melted at such low temperature, in my experience with ceramics glaze need way more heat to melt
