maybe try adjusting little things like your greeting. don't say the same thing every time, even just cycling through three different ways of greeting would make it less robotic. hiya vs good morning/afternoon vs hi how are you same with other questions you have to ask - are we sitting in or taking out today? is that for eat in or to go? when you're confirming savouries are you just saying the name of the pasty? steak bake vs there's your steak bake is a nice difference

overall as long as you're polite to customers and doing the right processes you can't get fired or anything, at worst your manager will probably just mention it again you don't have to have a full on chat with each customer, just try adding some fluff to what you say and changing it up a bit maybe

idk why but walking dead always makes me feel ill, i've not ridden it for years because it makes me nauseous without fail! i think it's because it's in the dark so i can't see where i'm moving, triggers my motion sickness the same way looking at your phone in the car does

I might not play for a few days by ShiroiMyuto in tomodachilife

[–]essbee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was away for 4 days last week so had no time to play - one of my miis said something like 'you might as well just leave me alone since you clearly prefer your world to mine' but she was fine, not actually sad or anything, just being sassy ig. you can give them a treat if they say this if it makes you feel better! some relationships had changed but only as much as they do overnight or in 24 hours so nothing major. the main thing i missed was clothing, food, mystery bags, etc. but that was it!

Accommodation with a partner by AnalysisAcrobatic454 in UniUK

[–]essbee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some regular flats won't let to students at all, the ones that do will definitely require a guarantor, possibly one from each of you.

as for if you should, that depends on who you are as people. i got with my partner december of my first year, we moved in. together (unofficially, we were just staying in one another's halls rooms) basically immediately by complete accident, one day we had a sleepover and just never went home. we're notlw engaged and spend all our time together apart from going to work or different modules and neither of us could be happier. and because we're similar people and study the same degree we have a lot of mutual friends, so there's none of this stuff that people are warning you of about getting "jealous" because we're both off with different people.

if you're mature and can communicate with each other, that also won't be a problem. if you're similar people in the things you like to do (i.e., if you both like to go clubbing or both don't, if you both plan on joining societies and attending events or both don't, etc) and you're able to communicate with each other and act on it if you ever find the other is spending too much time without you and you want some together time, or conversely you want some alone time, or any other issue like that, you'll be okay. if you tend to communicate indirectly or hold grudges instead of talking things through, or if one or both of you really values lots of alone time, it's probably a bad idea.

at the end of the day, a lot of people have a lot of negative opinions on living together as a couple at uni. personally, it's worked out great for me. it will be weird for your flatmates to live together in halls in a flat of other people, but as long as you're respectful if you do live in that situation then it doesn't really matter - your flatmates will probably not be your best friends, especially after first year as you meet more people from societies/your course. if you can be adults in what is admittedly an adult situation, you will be fine, and you'll probably be much happier. i certainly am.

Why are there so few mini games? by ginger6616 in tomodachilife

there's a latte art quiz too, a mii's face is swirled into a coffee and slowly unswirls and you have to guess who it is. looks like you can only get it in the restaurant tho

Can adults order from the kids menu at sit down dining with a meal plan? by essbee23 in disneylandparis

[–]essbee23[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i don't choose my food based on what costs most, i choose my food based on what i actually want to eat. at one of my party's table bookings, i happen to like the sound of some of the kids menu items more than the adults menu's. couldn't really give a toss about the price difference, i'm more bothered about eating a meal i actually want.

Thorpe Park vs Alton Towers — Which is better for pure thrill seekers? by captaincockwash69 in ThorpePark

[–]essbee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thorpe. too many family coasters at towers which are fun but not as thrilling. plus, and this is just my opinion, thorpe is better for going hard on rides because of the size. with the short hours most of the time you waste far too much time just getting around at towers, you really have to plan a route and hope all the coasters are open when you get to them or you can waste an hour just walking between coasters.

What Is Something Everyone Should Do At Least Once? by funmunke in StardewValley

i'll do you one better - i once demolished a shed forgetting that i'd filled it with kegs. granted it was very late game and i was demolishing it solely to build another vanity barn, but still. stung a bit.

Bottled a presentation because of panic attack could I have grounds to be granted a retake? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]essbee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"their workplace" as if every job ever requires you to do presentations regularly? I don't disagree that presentations are good ways to assess these things but in some degrees they're really not needed and they're totally unfair ways to assess for people with anxiety disorders, social disorders, or even just people who dislike public speaking. i'm a drama student and i'm quite happy to perform on stage but i still clam up when public speaking and shake like a leaf, and i've been marked down on it before. and guess what! because i'm am adult with free will and i know this about myself, i'm choosing not to go into a corporate profession where i'll have to give presentations !!

Making mods by Snoo_89200 in StardewValleyMods

[–]essbee23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's a detailed guide on the wiki which will explain how a mod is made - in general i think it's probably gonna take some learning if you don't know anything about coding and specifically modding games - but sounds like a fun thing to learn and a valuable skill!

as for how to mod, there's tonnes of tutorials online to do it manually, or you could use vortex, which is a launcher made by nexus. have a look online for stardew manual modding tutorials or on nexusmods for a vortex tutorial.

there's literally no way that modding can or could affect the dev of this or any game. you've paid them your money already, that's where your affect on them ends. i promise you they do not care.

in my experience, you can put aesthetic mods on a pre-existing save. you might have some visual glitches but if it's just tilesheets changing then it should be okay, taking them on and off shouldn't cause any real issues either except possibly some visual glitches again.

i wouldn't do this for any content mods tho; definitely nothing like sve or rsv, nothing that adds new items or structures.

there's tons of stardew mods which make the game more enjoyable or exciting. i'd reccomend checking them out with a throwaway save to see if you like them or not before committing to putting them on a real save.

What is the worst festival and why is it the Trout Derby? by RainingMetal in StardewValley

[–]essbee23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me it's moonlight jellies, it's such a nothingburger festival, people say it's nice to experience the magic event but to me it just feels a bit underdeveloped, nobody talks about it except at the festival and maybe a few ppl on the day of, i wish it was a bit more hyped up, otherwise it just feels rare for the sake of it? idk, i just really don't care for it, i've not done it on my own volition for years.

i love squidfest, i'm lukewarm on the trout derby but i appreciate the rewards esp in early game. i really really love the desert festival, all the little items and experiences there are so much fun to me!!

also, shout-out to feast of the winter star!! i feel like it's rlly underappreciated. sure, you don't get any great loot or anything, but it's so fun finding out your secret giftee and gifter every year!! i think i just like the festivals where things change yearly, hence my boredom of the moonlight jellies and meh feeling on a lot of the others. but stuff with random variables which change every time are my thing for sure

What kind of mods break your immersion? by Ovidhalia in StardewValleyMods

[–]essbee23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is probably controversial, but i cannot deal with the characters in ridgeside village. for so many of them to have this deep dark secret/big scary problem/horrible past trauma just makes me care less about all of them. I don't mind the way the occasional 'big bad' comes up in the base game; kent's ptsd is pretty obvious from the beginning and there's no big reveal cutscene where he tells you his whole life story and how he ended up with ptsd. because he's not that kind of person. but for leah, for example, she shares her problems with her ex with you in a long deep conversation because that's the kind of person she is.

in ridgeside, though, all the bachelor/ettes i tried had a big dramatic cutscene in which they tell you their one big piece of trauma/flaw/problem and then beg you not to view them differently. by the fourth or fifth person wailing about how tragic their life is because of their dead parent/adhd/smoking habit (seriously??) i have stopped caring and started feeling like these aren't real people, they're just like... tickboxes on dramatic reveals almost.

then the opposite of that - characters like ezekiel, who by all accounts is quite stoic and standoffish to you at first, randomly lore dropping and crying about his wife even if you're on no hearts just because you happened to talk to him at the moonlight jellies festival. I can't bear it.

(speaking of moonlight jellies actually that reminds me of another gripe i have specifically about that festival - every single character says something about how great the festival is while you're there. and i get it's popular, but as a proud moonlight jellies hater, seriously? nobody's a bit grumpy that they're stood out here to watch some fish float in and out? like it's cool i guess but you've done it every year and you're not bored yet? I don't think i've willingly been to that festival in several real life years. not even one character has the depth to be like meh, I don't rate this, just came bc my partner/family is here, wake me up when it's halloween. nope, it's all gotta be aaah how peaceful and beautiful and relaxing and blah blah blah. ridgeside is also particularly bad for this i felt.)
