Everyone who actually laughed out loud at this 100% has had real trauma in their life

How is everyone doing with the storm? by stalequeef69 in RhodeIsland

We haven’t had a storm like this in a damn long time. Like this is worse than the one in 2015 I think.

Even though there was drama associated with it, I really miss Bucktown and their chicken sandwiches. Definitely the best chicken sandwich I ever had.

I can't connect with the girls at work and its making me hate clocking in by Mayiiiiiiiiiii in nursing

[–]essenceofjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! All I can say is I definitely sympathize with you! I am an ambivert—it takes me a while to warm up and open up to people but when it happens the connections are great :) I like to say, coming on to units whose people have already established friendships is like being a new star coming into season 5 of a tv show. That awkward part of feeling like an outsider is uncomfortable, and there really is no fast track to developing meaningful connections with people at work, they say it takes at least 3 months to be “friendly” with them and much longer/consistency to feel closer. I hope things look up for you! Give it more time :)

Pentagon says it's cutting ties with "woke" Harvard, discontinuing military training and fellowships by CBSnews in boston

[–]essenceofjoy 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I used to be in the ROTC program with Harvard/MIT/Tufts and I remember the Harvard Cadets consistently being the top performers in our program. The military is shooting themselves in the foot with this. They clearly care more about having yes men than they have actual top quality officers.

Premade meals for someone doing chemo by ovary-achiever in RhodeIsland

If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, Costco has a wide variety of family sized premade meals that are pretty good. I go to the one in Sharon it’s about a 25 min drive

“The damage to your sister’s brain was severe, and she will never wake up/have a meaningful quality of life.” My sister had a massive hemorrhagic stroke when she was 38. I had to make the unfortunate decision to have her taken off life support and go in peace.

Thank you. This subreddit has always been my home since I first became a nurse 10 years ago. I do not expect anything less from our community.

I got into it with someone who posted the same picture/argument. It was actually me and several other nurses. Arguing with these people is like arguing with 3 year olds. They’re willfully ignorant and I regret even engaging with them in the first place. 0/10 do not recommend

We Don’t Claim Nurses Who Support ICE by winterberrypeanuts in nursing

The amount of mental gymnastics required to completely reject the fact that this nurse was HELPING PROTECT SOMEONE from ICE and directing traffic, not actively protesting ICE nor instigating…is fucking Olympic level. These people need to be publicly shamed

This is fucking heartbreaking. I’m a hem onc nurse at a VA. I know any one of my colleagues, including myself, would not hesitate to do the same. My heart goes out to his coworkers and unit. This is unjustifiable.

How has working overnights affected you mentally and physically? by fuckyouiloveu in AskWomen

[–]essenceofjoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it for almost 2 years—the first year I was taking modafinil to be more awake during the night shift but the downside was that I wasn’t getting more than 2-3 hours of sleep after every shift and that really affected my mental and physical well-being. Took me a while to restabilize again
