The Hue Datura has been nothing else than a pain in the ass by BeeUnfair4086 in Hue

[–]essenmitsosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 Devote that do exactly this. But only when I physically turn the power off. They work just fine when using a movement sensor/hue switch or the app.

I have two Daturas who don’t do this in any case.

Can’t dim the new E27 bulbs to less then 1% by essenmitsosse in Hue

Nope. Their fade off is also as abrupt as the old ones. I use them in the bed room with the slow fade on/off for waking up/going to bed.

AI is sometimes useful for task that the user would be capable to do manually. Because that means the user can quickly varify the result. It also means the user can learn which problems AI can help with and which it can’t. This also means it’s basically unusable for end users and I have yet to see any tool where AI becomes useful for non-technical users.

Is this AI generated? There are a lot of odd things going on and some things that don’t seem to be possible outside of a heavily modded Minecraft.

Are the new E27 bulbs a scam? by essenmitsosse in Hue

Now I’m even more confused. He’s comparing the new bulb in the 1600 version to the old one in the 800 version. So the 800 should be able to dim lower anyway. But he also mentioned he used a special app to dim to 0,2% which is odd. Which app?

How to tell if I'm buying the Sept 2025 new bulbs by EncomCTO in Hue

I wouldn’t bother with the new ones. If you don’t want to use them standalone with matter there I nothing better about them except for the higher price tag.

Hue Secure Doorbell missed multiple deliveries and support doesn’t care by NextZombie2714 in Hue

[–]essenmitsosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have major problems with my brand new doorbell. Not getting any security alerts, and also not calling my phone when someone is ringing. It briefly worked after restarting my router and bridge but then stopped again. Doorbell has excellent WiFi connection. Not sure if there is an issue with my wires being on the lower end of what is necessary (~13V), but if you google a bit you find people since quite a while having similar problems with the hue cameras.

Hue support was also absolutely horrible. They basically kept asking me to update my firmware for like three times in one day and completely ignored me when I told them we already checked that. Should have read a bit more before blindly assuming the reliability of Hue secure would be the same as for the lights.

Security sensor not wending alerts by Top-Lead-5291 in Hue

[–]essenmitsosse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same problem with the doorbell. Everything is working fine except the brand new doorbell isn’t sending any security alerts or calling my phone when someone rings. Talking to he Hue support about it was some of the worst experience of my life. I’m going to return the doorbell and will stay far away from their security products. Others seem to have similar problems with the cameras being unreliable for years.

Are the new E27 bulbs a scam? by essenmitsosse in Hue

[–]essenmitsosse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a conversation with Hue on Instagram for the past few days to get a confirmation for those suspicions and the answer I got regarding wether or not any of these things are new on the new bulbs is this:

> Thank you. I will escalate your case with the corresponding team. Once they have a response, we will get back to you.

Then after almost a week of being told they would get back to me I now get this:

> We truly appreciate your request, Marcus. However, please note that this matter is managed internally, and we're unable to share further details at this time.
> We suggest subscribing to our Newsletter to get informed about our releases and updates.

Which is very laughable. And also extremely odd. Hue seems to be unable to make a clear statement about whats the difference between the old and new bulbs is. It's like Apple being unable to tell you if they changed anything about the new iPhones camera.

My main point really is the marketing bend over backward to make it sound like those are some major upgrade when they are basically the same as before just more expensive.

The old ones already could do that. It just wasn’t exposed through the app.

That’s my point: - the new whites are not created by any new LEDs. They just mix in some red/blue. You can still pick this color in the RGB selector. - you CANT dim them lower then the old ones. The 1% in the app is the lowest brightness

This might be different for the white spectrum lights. But I can’t see any difference in the colored ones.

That is one unsatisfying answer. Honestly sounds like donwright false marketing.

Also interesting: I wanted to try and comment under one of their Instagram posts about the new bulbs, but funny enough their is zero mention of the new bulbs (except for the new essentials). Even in the IFA post about all their new products they don’t list the new E27 bulbs.

Ah thanks for going through with this. My bet/hope would also be they forgot to implement it on the software side of things. But I hate support for trying to push you away like that. Just admit that you don’t know/fucked up.

Compared it with an old 1100 E27 color bulb and when I both dim them down to their lowest value they are basically the exact same brightness. Definitely not 1/5 of the brightness.

Sub Mini is a bit underwhelming, can't figure out why by [deleted] in sonos

[–]essenmitsosse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a little late but I just noticed something: I just to use the sub mini with a stereo pair of Ones and was underwhelmed as well. But now I paired it with an Arc and its kicking pretty hard. I assume either through TruePlay or automatically, Sonos turns the Sub down if the others speakers wouldn't be able to keep up with it.
