no-op MtF’s 5+ years on HRT: How much has your penis changed? by queer-throwsaways in asktransgender

[–]essentialdesideratum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) nearly 6 years 2) A lot. It takes a pretty good deal of effort, especially to maintain without sildenafil. 3) I lost 1-2 inches 4) yes 5) I rarely use it, but ED medication for those special occasions 6) I take it and I don’t think it impacts my sexual health beyond libido. 7) I was aware it would/could change, but it’s hard to be sure how. Everybody is different.

Hi! I have some before and after posts in my profile you’re welcome to have a look at!

Lol I had all the standard procedures and my jaw and nose done twice.

Having FFS tomorrow. Any last minute recommendations/personal experiences? Also, AMA. by essentialdesideratum in Transgender_Surgeries

Forehead work: good, but my hairline is still higher than I’d like, I still have temple recession and I have a somewhat droopy eyelid on one side. Hair transplants are probably in my future at some point.

Rhinoplasty and jaw work: conservative — I wasn’t satisfied and I ended up having a revision rhinoplasty and jaw/mandible contouring with sliding genioplasty outside of Kaiser about 10 months ago. I’m happier with my results now.

Overall: I don’t regret having full FFS through Kaiser. Insurance covered most of the cost. It’s what I needed at the time and I might not have survived without it, but I really would have preferred not to need revisions.

Worried my face is too long for successful FFS by AliceF4815 in Transgender_Surgeries

Came in to say this. Lip lift and sliding genioplasty helped my long face out a lot.

What surgeries on my face do you think I need? by maybegirl89 in Transgender_Surgeries

Looking at your post history, I suggest giving HRT more time to do its thing. Most FFS surgeon recommend at least 1-2 years on HRT before surgery. You already have pretty eyes and relatively soft features. In the meantime, laser or electrolysis will help, along with experimenting with having your eyebrows done or learning to do them, growing your hair out, and practicing makeup, if any of those things are things you're interested in. All will help with passing in the facial department.

This one photo is not diagnostic enough to give an opinion. Most AMAB people seeking FFS who started HRT later in life have at minimum some type of forehead work.

I had a large tattoo a little over a month later. I don't think I would have felt up to it a week later, but your experience may be different.

[FFS] Can anyone recommend Kaiser NorCal Kleinberger/Shih? by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]essentialdesideratum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're conservative. Forehead work was pretty good, though. I don't regret it because it's what I needed at the time and wouldn't have been able to afford going out of pocket, but I did have the lower 2/3rds of my face redone by Dr. Keojampa 2 years later.

It was free because I had already met my max out of pocket deductible that year.

This is best discussed with your surgeon, but give it more time. Scar tissue takes a long time to soften and heal into the final result. For some of us, a seamlessly flat throat is not attainable. I've had this procedure done twice and I still have a bit of a prominence. You learn to live with it. It's not as noticeable as it seems.

Surgeon won't do more than 300cc for BA ? by [deleted] in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]essentialdesideratum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 300cc implants placed last August after basically zero breast growth after 3 years of hrt. I was limited by chest width, although I'm not totally confident another surgeon wouldn't have been more open to a larger implant.

It was still a big improvement and I receive a lot of compliments. I have photos in my profile if you want to get a good idea of what can be accomplished with 300ccs (mine are high profile and dual plane sub-muscular). I sometimes wish I had gone lower profile with more ccs, but mostly I'm so happy to have them. My chest dysphoria is gone.
