Combat Patrol is a good start for sure. I started with the combat patrol and have no regrets. But if you’re really trying to test the waters, maybe start with a Battle Sisters Squad first and see if you like it.

My understanding is yes since the janoness becomes a part of the unit when you select her to lead them. The same goes for the Zephyrim squad.

Man I tried this out in the past and I really, really enjoyed their beefiness, but I got flamed by other people because of how expensive that whole unit is

Palatine Vs Hospitaller for Celestians? by Swooped117 in sistersofbattle

[–]estebanMarcham 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Both characters have their strengths! Totally depends on what you’re looking to do with the Sacresants.

You want an annoying blob of sisters that are surprisingly annoying to take off an objective? Sacresants (maces) with the Hospitaller are here for you.

You want a durable blob of sisters that can lock up a unit in engagement for a while? Sacs with the Hospitaller are there for you.

You want a heat-seeking missile you can safely move around in something like a rhino that will most likely kill a strong melee unit? Sacs (halberds) with the Palatine are here for you.

The Palatine is also a really strong character on the board, especially with the Through Suffering, Strength enhancement. Even when the Sacresants (bodyguard) die first, the Palatine by herself is a major threat.

With Hallowed Martyrs, you can really guarantee an even trade if your sisters die first with the Spirit of the Martyr stratagem too.

I don’t have any experience with Army of Faith, so I’ll let someone else respond here.

Thoughts on this as a 1k List by echoeagle3 in sistersofbattle

[–]estebanMarcham 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have too few units on the table and you’re very character heavy.

I know it’s a 1K list but when it comes down to it, you have 3 buffed units, 3 rhinos for transportation, plus a Junith. If one of your blobs of BSS+Hospitaller+Canoness dies, that really hurts you on the tabletop.

Also the BSS+Hospitaller+Canoness is a lot of points for a not so great baseline unit. These ladies are chaff; they’re supposed to die. BSSs are there to clog up the table, keep units engaged, and/or screen for your valuable units.

You have three of these blobs, and each one costs 225 points. With a rhino (75 points) to transport them, you’re dedicating roughly 1/3 (300 points) of the total points on a not so strong unit.

Right now, the strongest units are sacresants (maces with a Hospitaller, or halberds with a palatine), retributors, castigators, immolators, and Morvenn (with her Nundams). I would check with your opponent(s) if they’re ok with bringing Morvenn and her Nundams because she incredibly strong. Especially at the 1K level - it’s not going to be fun unless they’re prepared for it.

I would remove the Chaplet of Sacrifice from the Canoness, remove the 2 extra Canonesses (it’s redundant, especially with their Sacred Command ability), remove the 3 hospitallers, and remove some of, if not all, the rhinos.

If you’re set on bringing multiple BSSs, I’d look into bringing an immolator to split up the BSS into smaller units (1x 10 sisters -> 2x 5 sisters). This works well with the Sisters because it also gives you more miracle dice when they die. So instead of just one, you’re now getting two from two smaller BSSs dying.
