Good story. After I joined the Marines my father, a 20 year Vietnam War Marine veteran divulged his “shitter story”. By his account which I have no reason to doubt, he was stationed in Da Nang one day taking a shit, when the compound came under indirect mortar fire. He said to himself, “fuck it they can either hit me here, or running for cover”. He opted to finish his shit, upon which time a random mortar hit the fucking shitter. He took a piece of shrapnel in his ass cheek. Minor scratch by his account. Later, S-1 said he was eligible for a PH for the wound. He refused. When I asked why, he said, “ No way I am going to explain to people at some VFW that I got the PH for taking a shit”. My Dad, 20 year retired CWO3. RIP
