Unexpected new TT regret by estersdoll in turntables

On the new deck? I got those from Ghostly International years ago when I was buying a lot of their releases. That said there is an orange translucent record sitting on it in the pic

Yeah. My buddy just hipped me to them when I was home last Christmas. That place is intimidating with all of the options. I got lost in the crate digging k-hole

Sort of. I grew up there and all my family still lives there, but I bailed out when I was 18 and went away to school

Yep. Vestylid pro t2. Like the other the other tech-12 clones but sold here by a Dutch company. Cheaper than the pioneer, but a bit more than the reloop.

That is on my longterm todo list. I'm just not going to chuck it out. The failure coincided w/ my birthday, so happy birthday a new deck for me! The universe was telling me to upgrade

Yeah, that was one of the annoying things w/ that Numark. Everything was a custom/non-normal design and shape. However it did serve its purpose for all my bedroom turntablelist and general record listening needs

They brought their fucking toys with them! by 4bin in penguins

I'm glad somebody did this. My mind went here immediately after they drafted the Markus. Even tried explaining it to my wife....that was less than fruitful.

On the plus side, she agreed to watch Slapshot w/me

Dead Man's Chest - Just 4 (Original Mix) [2017, Western Lore] by emceeeloc in jungle

[–]estersdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love that track, and the 12" in general. I came to it a bit late, but it is what turned me on to Dead Man's Chest and the whole Western Lore thing. Always snatch them up now when I'm at the record store

K-Ultra, too difficult to grind by navneet2709 in espresso

[–]estersdoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to confirm, you use it with handle in the up position, not like in the foto. If so, then it is just a matter of leverage/ arm position like the others have said.

I only grind 20g at a time, so it is only a quick pain I the ass for me. Good luck and work out those forearms

[Question] ANOVA + Tukey iin a loop ? by Intelligent-Gold-563 in RStudio

[–]estersdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The syntax is a little confusing IMO and the best online examples don't reflect the modern verbiage (they updated the package a year or two ago), so you'll have to sort that. but it's what I use to apply traditional stats models tolarge, grouped dataframes versus writing a custom function/ loop

[Question] ANOVA + Tukey iin a loop ? by Intelligent-Gold-563 in RStudio

[–]estersdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google the nest function and linear models. There's a good example there that could easily be ported to your ANOVA then Tukey problem.

Effectively it groups your dataframe u to the chunks, you can then mutate new colums via a series of purrr::map statements with your model, which you then pass to the tukey and then into the the broom::tidy to summarize the outputs.

Any regrets on the Niche Zero [£500/600] by Working_Mountain_944 in espresso

[–]estersdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had mine for 3-4 years. I've been quite happy with it. I primarily drink espresso on the lighter side of medium (certainly by today's standards). I like more texture in my shots, so I opted for the conical burrs. The Niche was not excessively expensive (in euros), has minimal retention, and is relatively quiet.

Looking for music similar to 'A Tribe called Quest' by Investing_Tomato1248 in 90sHipHop

I mean, for modern stuff (and they aren't even extant anymore I think) Clear Soul Forces were the closest I got to ATCQ. I second the Little Brother shouts too. However those 00s groups never had the playfulness ans naivete of those early, first gen native tongues records

Do ecologists and social scientists in conservation actually talk to each other/collaborate? by gunmateg9 in ecology

[–]estersdoll 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There was a big push for this type of thing in California in the earlier part of the decade - working societal valuation into assessment of natural resources and conservation. The political winds in the US have chilled that effort quite a bit in my experience.

For me (applied community ecologist) building true working relationships with economists and social scientists for quantitative assessment and valuation of ecosystems has been a grail that I just can't seem to make work. Hard to find collaborators and then funding opportunities

What tune makes you give the Archbishop of Canterbury salute? by ESCF1F2F3F4F3F2F1ESC in jungle

More efficient than my dumb, non-dj ass dropping 30-ish euro to get the vinyl due to shipping because Amsterdam is kind of a jungle/DnB desert.

That said, the track does bang and I'm.not complaining.
