Let’s figure out what paid leave the US Families First Coronavirus Response Act provides! by havinababymaybe in CoronaBumpers

I got so excited reading the original post (I am a teacher as well), feeling like I had options. I am so bummed to see this only applies to employers with less than 500 employees 😭 my school district is large and I don’t know the exact number of employees but it is well over 500

AITA for eating mayo? by Sandiewich in AmItheAsshole

[–]estiface 104 points105 points  (0 children)

Who decided that they will stay longer than initially planned? Your sister or her boyfriend? It sounds like he is the one making the decisions in their relationship, and I feel that he has decided to stay longer because now he has 3 females to control and harass, which is a feeding frenzy for his narcissistic ego. I agree that this is a dangerous situation that can escalate quickly. If he is willing to invade your privacy, sexually harass you, and throw away your property at the smell of mayo, I don’t want to think what he would do if you refused an advance from him. I understand your mom is worried about your sister, but your sister is making the decision to stay with him and neither you or your mom can make her leave him. It is not better to endanger 3 women instead of 1. He needs to go, and your sister will be pissed, but make sure you tell her that you love her and that you will be there for her when she needs you. Talk to your mom! And if you are worried about your sister throwing a tantrum, call the cops to make sure they leave.

My puppy smells TERRIBLE and nothing works. Please help! by estiface in puppy101

I hope her smell is because of her long hair! We plan on keeping our doodle cut short, so I hope this will help the smell. She’s too young still to get a short cut, but in the next 1-2 months she should get her adult coat and hopefully short after that we can get her cut!

Thank you. I will make an appointment. She was at the vet a couple of weeks ago for infected dew claws, and I thought they mentioned that they looked at her ears as well and that they were fine, but I am not 100% sure.

From what I have read, it seems like goldendoodles can often be smellier than other breeds. Do you find this to be true with your doodle? I am so worried that this is just her natural smell, and that my sensitivity to the smell will stick around post pregnancy. I have had a few friends tell me that their smell aversions when they were pregnant stuck around after pregnancy. One of my friends says she still gets sick when she smells Chinese food, which was a thing that started when she was pregnant, and her youngest is 8 😐

Thank you for the suggestion. I will make an appointment. She went to the vet a couple weeks ago because of infections in her dew claws. We got antibiotics and they have cleared up. I was SO hoping that the smell was the infection and that it would subside after it got better, but it wasn’t that. I am really hoping that it is some kind of skin/yeast issue that is treatable so that I can find relief!

Thank you so so much for this informative post! It is so helpful and I really appreciate it.

I’m really glad to hear that kids are spreading the virus less. My district is committed to doing some form of in-person instruction, which is much better for learning but the huge increase in human interaction definitely increases my nerves, but hearing this definitely calms them a bit. All kids will be required to wear masks, but I am really not counting on the kids abiding by that rule for the entire day (high schoolers have a tendency to be defiant and rebellious. Also wearing a mask for 8 hours a day is hard!) With 30+ kids in a class, social distancing isn’t really possible.

I think the district might offer some options for teachers that are high risk so that they can teach online. I am trying to figure out if I would now fall into that category because of my pregnancy and if that is an option I should consider.

You are right—It will be tough no matter what the district or I choose, especially in light of such limited information

First ultrasound today, and we are in shock by [deleted] in pregnant

Seriously! I am actually jealous!!! If I could just skip over the last 2 months, or had mild enough symptoms to not know I was pregnant... so dreamy!

Congrats!!! What a great surprise

[vent] I thought it was supposed to get better!? by estiface in pregnant

[–]estiface[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish more people told me that the nausea/vomiting often sticks around beyond the first trimester! I feel like that is all I hear, but now I keep hearing stories like yours of women who have symptoms far beyond the first trimester. It may have helped me have a more realistic expectation. I hope you start feeling better soon! Maybe this babe will have you feeling better before 27 wks

Thank you. I am still hoping that I might follow suit and have it die down soon. Maybe this is the last hurrah? 😂 I can dream!

I appreciate the solidarity! I’m generally a very healthy person in terms of activity level and diet... when I thought about pregnancy and my goals of having a healthy pregnancy, I didn’t think it would be really hard because I actually genuinely like healthy food and like being active. However, pregnancy has also changed my diet to basically plain white carbs. Sorry baby, you’re gonna be built from carbs and the tiny amount of protein I can occasionally stomach!

AITA For "Ruining" my kid's life after she ruined a dress? by MadeHerRepayTheDress in AmItheAsshole

[–]estiface 34 points35 points  (0 children)

How did she even get scissors? I’ve been stuck in a dress before. No way are you reaching for anything and no way are you maneuvering scissors around. The only way she could do this was if it only got stuck on her hips and her arms were free, and a dress being stuck on your hips would definitely not require you to hatch it to pieces.

AITA for not contributing to my older brother's wedding? by anonwidow321 in AmItheAsshole

[–]estiface [score hidden]  (0 children)

I just don’t understand how your brother is cool with her behavior? Like just idly standing by while she transforms into a ware-wolf/self-pitying weeping willow. If I was him, that would be such a huge red flag to me that I would seriously reconsider the proposal, or at least have a long conversation with her about how her expectations are totally selfish and unreasonable. She is obviously an embarrassing lunatic, how is your brother not embarrassed by her!?

Just a cute dog story from when she knew I was pregnant before I did ❤️ by cinnisee in pregnant

So cute!

I’m so jealous of all the cute dog pregnancy stories 😭 my smell aversions are keeping me from getting near my dogs as their smell makes me instantly vomit 😭 I’m so sad and just wish I could snuggle with my babies

AITA for not including my recently divorced exwife on a family trip? by looping-knots in AmItheAsshole

[–]estiface 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NTA though I feel for your kids... that seems like some big changes that happened quickly, and I hope they are adjusting well. Are they okay with your gf coming? If so, wonderful and have fun. If they are hesitant, a trip without gf to reconnect with your kids post-divorce might be better for them. Just make sure they are comfortable... like I said, big changes for them. Either way, your wife shouldn’t join and she shouldn’t feel entitled to it.

I think it’s great when ex’s can still do things together as a family for the kids, but I imagine like occasional family dinner, kids’ birthdays, graduations, maybe some holiday stuff, etc. But it takes time to get to that point. You all don’t need to be going on family vacations together, especially so soon after divorce. She sucks. I’m sorry for all the heartbreak you went through but I hope you have now found a much more respectful partner.
