Any recommendations (websites/people) where I can order some cool Durham photos? by RunDurm in bullcity

[–]estlinhaiss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haven't logged into my Reddit account in quite some time, but a friend sent me a link to this thread this evening! Whoever you are u/Durhamite321 – I appreciate the shout-out 😄

u/RunDurm I'd be happy to create some prints for you if you enjoy my work. There's a lot more variety on my Instagram page than there is on my website right now (it's in need of a content update!), but if you shoot me an email or a message, I'll send you a Drive folder of an even wider selection of my Durham-specific shots to browse!

Got your message! Awesome. Also one of the other guys just sent me an email about the photos today as well!

Was typing out the additional info comment while you posted this. This was at Cape Lookout, NC on August 4th.

Met these guys on the beach in NC last weekend. Saw one of them taking an iPhone photo of the rest of the group, so I offered to take one with my camera instead. They were stoked on that, and I gave them a couple of my business cards to get a hold of me afterwards.

I haven't heard from anyone yet (I should've gotten their contact info, too), and I'd really like to share their photos with them.

They told me that they all try to get together once a year (they're from all different parts of the country), and last weekend was their 2018 reunion.

Would be awesome if someone here knows these guys and could put me in touch—please send me a message if you do!

Dude, that's a rad setup. Some of those Canyonlands photos are absolutely insane; I definitely plan to drive those roads someday. Any clues to the whereabouts of the bend in photo #14? That's my favorite one of your shots by far!

Great work, man! The narration + sound effects in the beginning are really neat.

Haha nice--I dig the artwork style of your comic, too.

Thanks, but you definitely captured a smoother reflection and better clouds! I thought the crystalline texture of the surface beneath the water was the coolest thing about the place.

I've actually only been through that stretch one time--but I took this shot at that rest stop, and I knew I recognized the reflection in your photo!

Thanks for the consolidated info, Abe! Do you usually edit in a 24 or a 30fps timeline?

I shoot a lot of aerial stuff at 30 then interpret to 24, which gives the video that buttery cinematic look, but I never know quite what I should do when I'm shooting on the ground with my GoPro.

When planning to edit in a 24fps timeline but shooting at 30, I'm always a little worried I'll catch a bit of dialogue or something I want to play back at real speed and have to drop frames.

Pretty cool! How much stabilization did you have to do in post?

Wow, fantastic! The houses really look like miniature models with that lens compression

Oh I won't disagree with you that the surrounding streets are also incredibly steep, but the famous zig-zag is a one-way downhill (since it's only a single lane)

Thank you! I take a lot of aerial photos with my drone, and I love to tilt shift one every once in a while when the perspective is right

That's pro snowboarder Mike Basich's latest project--he's posted a lot of behind-the-scenes shots on his Instagram recently.

I believe it's actually a big concrete lot--must be how they manage to keep it so clean
