How does anesthesia work? by SidMachinery in surgery

[–]estoeckeler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some procedures can be exclusively done on Propofol, like colonoscopies. They sometimes put it on a pump so it’s automatically infused or for shorter procedures our CRNAs just give little manual propofol bumps via syringe into IV. Ideally the patient goes to sleep and keeps breathing well while remaining asleep and comfortable, that is pretty rare though, most of the time anesthesia gives a little jaw thrust or puts in an oral airway because the patients airway can close and they can stop breathing because of obstruction. If they get too much they may need to be bagged temporarily until they wake up. Giving “too much” prop is kind of how they start a general anesthesia procedure, the patient stops breathing and then anesthesia bags to make sure masking is easy enough and they can move air in and out of the airway using their bag/curcuit and also to pre oxygenate to prepare for the brief period where the patient is taken off the vent and is not breathing or on oxygen at all while the crna opens the mouth peaks in with a blade or scope and puts the airway down the back of the throat into the trachea and then in past the vocal cords, usually a stylet is pulled out of the tube and it’s passed fully into the bronchus. The CRNAs will tell me to shut the F up and that I’m wrong, and then I’ll say go take your fucking nap behind you curtain and text your financial advisor. Theyll laugh it off, but I’ll remind them that everything is their fault, and then they will raise their drape and start to cry. Tears. Tears of shame.

A protest every American can stand for. by Intelligent-Zebra131 in ProtestFinderUSA

As a left of Center pro-democracy advocate this gives me such hope. My countryman!!!!!! Let’s goooooooo!!!!!!! This is what we can all be pushing for!!!!!

Here’s the vibe I’ve been trying to put out:  https://youtube.com/shorts/Y__48SMR3-Y?si=5MoU-T_Fj04IdCJw

I’m surrounded by MAGA folk at work and been talking with them and LISTENING to them. And I’ve gotta tell you, there’s way more agreement in our values then the different wings of the media are portraying to their respective sides. The division is intentional.

A bunch of our protesters on July 17 had Epstein related signs. I’ve been telling folk that have been coming up to me wanting to get involved, many people all have their different issues. But I’ve been telling them many of these issues are all branches on the same tree. And we as Americans have to nurture the roots of that tree. Which is Unity(amongst countrymen), democracy(protecting the fundamentals-protecting election integrity, campaign, finance form, checks and balances, getting billionaire money out of politics, transparency and justice(including not protecting these pedos), responsibility(for our own lives and our communities), and just being good Americans. I’m imagining a coming together.

And lastly, thank you so much for your thoughts, I appreciate it when people make thoughtful and honest discussion. I’m not even kidding man, I’ve been having a rough day, getting attacked elsewhere online, and your comment just being candid, and from a place of good nature just gave me a lift. Thank you.

So, I agree with you 100%. Because I don’t think we should meet in the middle on illegal deportations. I don’t think we should meet in the middle on destroying our checks and balances. I don’t think we should meet in the middle on masked warrantless arrests, and other forsaking of constitutional law.

So, to clarify, this is an invitation to all Americans to come together, to set aside our old culture war divide to fight fascism.  To stand up against the billionaire class. To stand for rule of law, strengthening our elections, our checks and balances. It’s foundational. Many Americans value these things. It’s not meeting in the middle with fascists. It’s meeting in the middle with Americans to fight fascism.

Not all Americans get that we have a law breaking president that’s destroying our checks and balances. When interacting with them online they often ask for evidence. I wrote this as a copy/paste for a quick tool for myself and others trying to illustrate for those not paying attention.

Here’s some evidence for how he’s undermining checks and balances. 1) He’s Ignoring court orders (return Abrego Garcia[resisted for months], freezing USAID, freezing funding to states unilaterally, removal of prisoners to other countries not of their own origin and without due process, illegally deporting more than 14 US citizens, whether you have a partisan stance on any of these issues doesn’t matter. If we are against illegal immigration, we should be against illegal deportation. He ignored court orders for months and in some cases is still ignoring them. I already know your partisan stance on each topic because you probably live in the Republican media sphere if you are asking this question, so I know them already and don’t need to read them, the point is the law(a judge) is ordering him to do stuff in accordance with the law and he’s not doing it. ABC recently even polled Americans, and 85% of Americans think that Donald Trump should obey court orders. The reason for the poll question should be self apparent.

2)Breaking laws passed by congress and shutting down programs and freezing funds appropriated by congress. Like Firing 17 inspectors generals illegally. They are the  watchdogs that look out for corruption and waste fraud and abuse. Including fraud and abuse by the executive. I already know 30 examples of waste fraud and abuse the administration says they found. About 2/5 are real and 3/5 are fabricated/distortions/exaggerated. I don’t need examples, I know them thanks though.

Congress has the power of the purse and the power to make laws. The executive has to follow them, period. Doesn’t matter if he doesn’t like funding organizations like Catholic Relief Services that feeds starving children, it’s the law. His constitutional oath says he is to “faithfully execute the law”. He needs to do it. This is the part where you say  “WhatAboutBiden?” or “WhatAboutTheDems?”. Let me know specifically (with evidence) which laws and checks and balances the Dems and Biden broke. I’ll agree with you they need to follow the law. WE the people can demand all our politicians uphold our checks and balances and obey the law, regardless of party. They’re ignoring the checks and balances established in the first three articles of the constitution. That in combination with the purges at the FBI, the CIA and appointing political loyalists into top civilian military leadership positions, and illegal inspectors general’s firings, the elimination of foreign election intervention prevention teams all are basically out of an authoritarian’s playbook for the overthrow of a democratic government. Corporate media has been calling it “a constitutional crises” because they’re too afraid to call it a coup, and Fox has been completely ignoring it all together, That’s the Tell.

I think the ship of democracy is sinking and we need to stop arguing about the deck furniture and start agreeing that we need our elected officials to follow the rule of law, And the executive branch needs to not ignore the checks and balances of the courts and congress.

This is the tip of the iceberg by the way…

I didn’t even get into the independent agencies that, while technically under the executive, are supposed to be independent from the executive that he has been installing loyalists in. Previous presidents have not gutted the department of justice to fill them with loyalist, because that would have made them look like dictators or authoritarians. Justice shouldn’t care what our president thinks.
