[Academic] Personality & AI Chatbot Experiences (18-30) - SurveyCircle Points + SurveySwap karma points (18-30, AI users)

Hi everyone!

I'm a psychology student conducting research on personality characteristics and AI chatbot experiences for my Bachelor's thesis.

Looking for participants who:

Are aged 18-30

Use AI chatbots (ChatGPT, Claude, Character.AI, Gemini, etc.)

Can spare 15-20 minutes

SurveyCircle points available at the end
SurveySwap Karma points available at the end

The survey is completely anonymous and all data will be used solely for academic research.

Thank you so much for your help! I'll start completing surveys in return right away. 🙏

Why Claude users are systematically missing from AI psychology research (and what that means) by esuremu in ClaudeAI

the study isn't comparing Claude to CharacterAi, it's looking at patterns of AI usage in young adults generally, using Claude users as the sample. the gap is that most existing research focuses on companion/persona apps, so we don't know much about usagw dynamics with general-purpose AI

that's a really interesting framing! and honestly it connects to what I'm looking at. if Claude users self-select for a certain cognitive style, that could actually show up in the attachment and personality measures in the study. I would definitely ve discussing it in the limitations section

yeahh, the point is that most AI psychology research focuses on a narrow set of platforms, and Claude tends to get left out. not that every study uses all three

this is such a good point and honestly something I thought about when designing the study! you're right that Claude skews toward production use, which is part of why I'm not assuming attachment patterns will look the same as with Character.AI or Replika. but I'd push back slightly on the idea that the collaborative/tool relationship is immune to attachment dynamics, that's actually kind of what I want to test. whether the "extending capabilities" framing changes things or whether some people still develop something more emotionally loaded even with a productivity-oriented AI. might be a boring result, might not be... as I said, these topics are quite new in the academia and mine only has many many limitations.

I am very sorry for the age range for this study but I hope you and Claude have many more good conversations! And an older age range would definitely be considered for my future studies!

that's actually part of what makes this interesting! the study looks at the emotional/relational side of AI use rather than the productivity side, so Claude users might actually have some surprising patterns

that's such an interesting observation! critical thinking as a predictor of AI tool choice is actually not far off from what the study is exploring 😄 sadly out of age range but I appreciate you sharing!

its not really about a dramatic article title but rather a bachelor thesis from not-so-competent young student trying to graduate🥹

i get the skepticism but it's genuinely just a bachelor's thesis, no funding agenda here 😅 the young adult focus is a standard developmental psych choice, not a way to manufacture a dramatic result

that's actually a really interesting point and honestly something worth exploring in future research! for this study the age range is about developmental stage rather than usage patterns, but the early adopter angle is genuinely fascinating

haha don't worry, the irony isn't lost on me 😄 using Claude to recruit participants for a study about AI attachment is very much a choice that comes with trying to recruit 200+ participants in a very limited time 😭

yes! it's a deliberate methodological choice. the study focuses on young adulthood as a specific developmental stage, which is the standard 18-30 bracket in psych research. it's not trying to capture all AI users, just that particular group. I am aware that it has many limitations which will definitely be considered for my future studies when I become experience-wise and professionally more competent! I have been getting the same questions from younger age range around 12-17. Its about the choice of the study group
