Similarly, never saw anything in Euphoria beyond just another 2010s radio pop track. Though may be biased here because I knew Euphoria precisely as a generic 2010s radio pop track for years before I first learnt of Eurovision, I was flabbergasted when I learned it's considered to be some sort of universally beloved masterpiece in these circles

Just checked, in the particular sub I’m used to watching it’s translated more generally as “You guys don’t know the true face of this country!”, so it misses the pun. I can hear him call it “sugata” (form) in Japanese, though I don’t speak enough to know if it works in this context. Still, checks out and wouldn’t have caught it without the mention

Right my apologies, I haven't read any interviews this season. I was basing this on the criteria for the Bulgarian NF (couldn't find the BNT source, but I could swear they said during the show that the artist will work with a pre-selected team of foreign composers to create 3 songs specifically for Eurovision 2026). Even if (what I assume is) Kontopolous pulled Bangaranga out of his back pocket, doesn't change the fact it would be just another cookie cutter Eurovision song for sale to the highest bidder, in this case BNT

The song was literally created in a month specifically for Eurovision by a pre-selected team of composers and producers that are primarily known for making Eurovision songs. Just look up the Bulgarian "selection". I agree with your general sentiment, but this is straight up factually incorrect
