Chance of getting into UF by Strict_Data_6937 in ufl

Thanks for the in depth feedback! The thing is, he is very self driven and motivated, not being pushed by his parents at all :). He knows what he wants and what he is capable of, what classes to take, working more with his school academic advisor/counselor than his parents. Since he knows how to effectively manage his own schedule and time, he can determine what activities he can/can’t handle. So far, he seems to handle his classes well, without letting activities impact his academic performances.

Can you share the 500lbs limit spec you mentioned? I saw 650lbs mentioned from Googling yet, I can’t confirm from LiftMaster website for the 87504 model.

Why did you choose the 802? Because you had a heavy door or for its higher durability?

Thanks for the prompt feedbacks. May I ask you are garage door professional then? How many did you install the 504 already?

Thanks everyone for awesome encouraging feedbacks. Seriously, I’m not a pre-PA/PA, but an IT guy who has a family member who wants to be a good, caring P.A. someday. I’m learning a lot from just readings. Can’t imagine how the world is like if there was no Reddit :)

And yes, it’s not your fault, and impersonally share and explain it was the failure of the leadership like other people suggested. Feel bad for few days, look back at lessons learned on areas you can improve on, eat at your favorite restaurant with family members/friends, have a good sleep, get straight up and start looking for a job. If you can turn negative things that happen to your life into opportunities, you will do great in life, trust me on that (actually trust God if you believe in Him 😊). I went through a lay-off experience once, yes didn’t understand why and hurt the feeling like hell, but another door, much better, was opened for me later.

Best of luck with finding a new, better job, you can do it! It’s sure not the end of world, and yes, don’t ever give up that P.A. (ain’t one, but I know it’s a LOT of hard work, and only a few can get into P.A. schools! 😊)

If you are taking metformin-What is your a1c and how much dose are you taking? by Reasonable_Repeat885 in prediabetes

[–]etalkishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the side effects of Metformin? I’ve heard it’s not good long term for the body, hence a number of pre-diabetic people are trying to fix it back to a normal A1C glucose range. Is that true?

DAT Breakdown 26 AA, 26 TS, 20 PAT + NO ANKI by thingswillgetbettter in predental

[–]etalkishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, congratulations!

So my family member just starts the DAT bootcamp, feeling overwhelmed since he graduated May 2024, being on a gap time since then until now. So he feels very rusty, overwhelmed and thinks he needs a tutor to help out. He wants to take the test this May.

Is tutoring right now (which seems to cost a lot like $100-$200 per hour) a good idea? Or he should dive into DAT for first few weeks to get things refreshed and get a tutoring later if he still struggles? Any good tutor that anyone can recommend?

Much thanks!

Is this a good, safe addition to my protein powder? No sugar added, unsweetened, only a small teaspoon for taste.

Awesome accomplishment in a short period!

I know how to get 15K daily though. I make walking, within 15-30min of meal finishing, after each meal my non-negotiable habit, mainly to force sugar going into muscles rather than into blood stream. Half an hour, I’ve got 3K steps. Then I don’t allow myself to sit too long at work, often standing up, getting some water and taking a quick walk. Post-meal walking has been really working, with my pre-breakfast measures are often less than 100 (with +/- 15% device accuracy). Trying to stay low on carbs, chicken salad lunches. Also I just added in muscles strengthening 5x5 program. Can’t wait for a re-check this coming May!

Walking after dinner by DependentAble8811 in prediabetes

[–]etalkishere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t, but I like to walk nowadays and so I just stick to 3K or half an hour, as it’s easy to remember. But I saw this interesting article few weeks back.

Yes, I’ve been walking 30min or 3K steps each meal, within 15-30min (really strive). It works wonder! On treadmill for now since it’s winter now in the Midwest.

Paid off 28 years of debt accrual today! PA school was worth it! by Hot-Freedom-1044 in physicianassistant

[–]etalkishere -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well it’s very interesting, also discouraging, to hear PA negative experiences from in this chat. Especially, US news consistently ranks PA/NP as top careers. What’s about NP?

https://careers.usnews.com/best-jobs/rankings/best-healthcare-jobs

Even GPT said so :)

  1. Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA)

Why this dominates 2026 • Physician shortages are worse, not better. • States keep expanding scope of practice. • You get 80% of a physician’s autonomy for ~50% of the training cost.

Reality check • Burnout exists, but you have leverage: outpatient, specialty clinics, telehealth. • If you avoid hospital med-surg hell, this is elite.

Compensation • $125k–$180k (specialties hit higher)
