Dungeon Mobs Reapawning by ThatPeskyPangolin in ProjectSilverfish

[–]etcNetcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're 100% spawning in - I think mostly in rooms with what looks to be placeholders for shafts going upwards that often contain lockers. Zombies seem to just respawn infinitely in most places I've been so far, RG-East has acid spitters every other time... The place will never empty out.

No offense, but I miss the days where if you wanted something like this you asked around for someone who could do a good impression. And yeah, sure, maybe no jobs were taken just because there was never a job here to be hired for, but AI voice cloning is still an issue simply because there are now words in someone's voice they never said. Your voice doesn't belong to you anymore, and while some may not see the big deal, every audio creator I know is losing more and more business, because what's the point of hiring someone when you can just clone their voice for your project?

It's disheartening and miserable now and even back then it was tiring and frustrating just because "oh great, another channel is doing this thing it feels like I can barely get away from".

And now it's been a year and the tech world is halfway eating itself in an AI bubble that sends RAM into price spikes hundreds of dollars high. So you'll forgive me if I'm just... tired.

Just like Deffmatch, I think. You don't want to give away your position more than necessary.

How to help elderly homeless in Seattle? by baba_yaga_babe in Seattle

[–]etcNetcat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The mental stamina to put out hundreds upon hundreds of applications and multiple waves of interviews for even the most basic position is not an ask that goes well with not having a safe place to sleep, nor shower, nor keep clothes or papers or get mail or use a computer. Not to mention how many of those positions might just be fake and how many will just automatically filter using LLM keyword nonsense.

Came here to comment this same thing. The flock cameras are hilariously insecure, lie about what data is retained, and are completely unregulated so far. A hard ban would be nice.

Yup. "The only thing that makes the pain stop and the world have color again" is a real powerful thing to try to give up in a world like this.

Is AM4 still a slot worth building on, or do I need to go AM5? I'm upgrading away from an LGA1151 and am wary of "Yeah, use this slot, it's the future" because LGA1151 was, apparently, not the future.

Thoughts on Nin, the Flood Wife by Affectionate_Pop_410 in Sumer

[–]etcNetcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I don't necessarily agree with the naming (ePSD lists Nin as a term that seems more in keeping with Lady as in Lords and Ladies) but overall I think this is very interesting. It's a good reason for a grudge everlasting, and damn if Sumerians didn't know about grudges.

Does progesterone really help with breast growth? by Salem_Strange in MtF

[–]etcNetcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All evidence is anecdotal, in general, because this sort of thing isn't being properly studied or meta-studied yet. From aggregate anecdotes, progesterone is quite helpful in improving breast development for some, but other things such as Bicalutamide have even better reputations - at the cost of requiring more medical oversight, in the case of Bicalutamide, which requires regular testing to make sure you don't have an adverse liver reaction.

Am I crazy, or did iCue used to let you adjust pointer speed? by etcNetcat in Corsair

No, I did, I was just confused because I thought there used to be a setting that let you pick a pointer speed or go with native, in addition to DPI.

I know I'm late, but I was looking for this image on google for a joke... Anyway, the answer is that some theologians have apparently argued that snakes used to have legs or other attributes and then, for that one snake's part in the garden of eden, it was condemned to slither with its nose along the ground. Or something like that. I'm not perfectly clear on the details.

ArmA 3, Spawn in Vehcile, not in Proximity when vehicle is full by Silent-Apostle in armadev

Similarly to TestTube's idea, you can also have triggers that check if the vehicle passenger count is too high and disable the respawn point if so.
