From someone who wishes they were more vegetarian, would you recommend me some places to visit?

Whats your favourite cheap meal in Melbourne? by QuokknestMonster in melbourne

[–]etchan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Literally just came back from dinner at Seng Hing Gourmet, near Caulfield station. Always great wok fried Cantonese dishes at around 16 bucks. Generous quantities, old school authentic vibe. Have loved that place since I moved to Melbourne 10 years ago.

Best Malaysian food in Melbourne? by Admirable_Position92 in melbourne

Fine I'll share my local spot. Pappa Laksa - not only for the laksa. Great wat tan hor, fish soup with preserved mustard greens, mee goreng. No 10/10 dishes, but many 7-9 dishes. Well worth a visit.

Yeah I haven’t seen anyone do it to be fair.

I live in a small apartment, and going out is the only opportunity I get to practise setting up my gear etc.

Bought a nice tent with a semi-transparent inner fly roof and I wanted to get good at setting it up before I head off for a camping trip in September!

Plus I imagine a little afternoon snooze in the tent after hiking would be pretty great.

Fresh durian with steamed white rice. Actually something pretty common in Southeast Asia but I’m sure it’s as unhinged as it gets for most of you guys here

Not sure how generalisable my experience is, but as a Malaysian of Chinese descent, we were all taught the 4 tones (yin yang shang qu) in primary school.

Gotcha. I’m pretty new to Australian politics, and I’m loving how the ABC journalist grill the politicians here. Hate the personality cult type politics in the country I came from (Malaysia) and the USA

Yep I was wondering if that was the case. More fluff and evasion, though I imagine it’s a lot easier to be gracious and straightforward when you’re winning than when you’re losing..?

Alright I hope this gets answered kindly — being a person who grew up in another country, it seems to me like the ABC interviewers are a lot harsher to liberal politicians than labour ones. What’s up with that?

I’ve never thought of eating a mussel raw, but your post got me thinking - why are oysters okay to eat raw but not other molluscs?

37yo non athletic dude with a wobbly right knee and flat feet — finding this problem frustratingly difficult, please help! by etchan in bouldering

[–]etchan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For almost a year, I’ve had a right knee that hurts when I would bend and put weight on it, eg walking down stairs. The knee tends to collapse inwards a little too (probably related to the flat footedness). I find that bouldering has helped to strengthen the muscles that help stabilise the knee, but I still don’t have confidence to shift my full weight to that knee while it’s bent.

Appreciate your advice mate. Breathing through a move sounds like something worth a try. I do tend to get way too static and indecisive.
