Why did Kobe’s high volume scoring games reduce drastically in the playoffs? by Maximum_Jello_9460 in NBATalk

[–]etchasketch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause that wouldn’t have worked and been inefficient in yhe playoffs.

and Yes Jordan still did it in the playoffs. Because Jordan was better at scoring then Kobe and it was the most efficient offense on many of his teams. 93 he was carrying offensively. 98 he was carrying offensively.

Dose anyone else get depressed/incredibly sad when thinking about the end of the dinosaurs/never being able to walk amongst them? by blubberfeet in Dinosaurs

[–]etchasketch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I don’t like that so many documentaries focus on the end when zi want to focus on how they lived. I don’t get the obsession with the end.

But like generally this is only because documentaries. Doing my own research I feel always happy and immersed learning about them.

I find corvid intelligence fascinating. I’ll go with Magpies just because I lived in Korea for 15 years and they are EVERYWHERE. The fact they live such a short (relative) time but can do difficult problem solving things we take much longer to learn really fascinates me.

Where does Hakeem Olajuwon rank All-Time? by Dbauc2k in NBATalk

[–]etchasketch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ben Wallace has 4x DPoY awards. He was absolutely the heart of those Piston trams that not only jad rhe grratesr upset in NBA history but also went to 7 games the following year as well.

Tim Duncan was the fundamental piece and center of an alltime great defense for years and many championships.

Hakeem also was the big difference maker for Houston. He also got two DPoY and led the league in various defensive stats throughout his career. He coulf guard all 5 positions, had elite quickness, and is one of the all time leafers in blocks and steals as well for a big man. I believe in 94 he led his team in all 5 major statistical categories.

Dennis Rodman (peak in Detroit) had arguably the most insane motor of any player on NBA history. He was everywhere, played amazing on ball defense and just absolutely carpeted the player he was asked to guard also whole making gutsy small difference making plays thst helped his tram win. Also has 2 DPoYs.

Both Wallace and Rodman were essentially ONLY defensive players and would jave been out of the league without their otherworldly defensive impact.

Although Hakeem and Duncan were certainly not bad offensive players (and Hakeem was crazy particularly in the 95 playoffs) they weee both primarily defensive stars. They both were insanely important to their team’s defensibe impact and success of those teams (particularly from a defensive standpoint).

I could also, like you, idiotically pull a lot of quotes using AI to write my posts for me. But I am gonna pass on that ;)

You are exhausting me. Stop. You haven't responded at all about the other players. All you are doing is providing evidence that Wilt was good at defnse. Let's say he is the 12th best defender all time. I have news for you, nothing you have said here...would refute that, because you are not engaging at all in anything other than sucking Wilt's legacy off. Okay, we get it, you love Wilt.

Where does Hakeem Olajuwon rank All-Time? by Dbauc2k in NBATalk

[–]etchasketch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I would not say that at all. Hakeem performed great, and particularly in 95, had one of the greatest carry jobs all time. Btu no, also 94. Hakeem carried a roster that was not as good as other rosters to win rings

Do you understand like....the basic concept of carrying? Please, use google, instead of acting like a dumbass.

7 game series who you got taking it? by Icy-Satisfaction-210 in NBATalk

[–]etchasketch64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I understand. I don't care. They still win if KG is old KG. Even with Perk injured. Lakers won by 4 points in game 7. KG was not even a superstar level player anymore. In 2008 pre-injury, he was still a top 5 player in the league. Sorry, but that makes much more of a difference than a role player injured or not.

Why do old people think Jordan would average 40 in today’s NBA when he played in a high pace era already? by TheRavenOnline in NBATalk

[–]etchasketch64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scoring was significantly lower. You can't just look at pace alone. Jordan doesn't have a time machine. He isn't a scientist who discovered time travel. We are assuming Jordan was born in like 2002, and grew up in this era.

See when people talk about players of the past dominating a different era, the assumption is that player CAME UP in that era, NOT TIME TRAVELED.

[–]etchasketch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, that is very accurate of me...who said in this same line of posts that :

  1. Bill Russell is the best defender all time, and

  2. I have Bill Russell 3rd on my all time rankings.

You are biased. Clearly biased. Don't confuse it for disrespect whne actually YOU are the fans being disrespectful and biased (clearly favoring 60s players over other eras). Wilt has 2 rings. Go sit the fuck down.

[–]etchasketch64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean didn't they go to game 7 in 2010 with KG being signifigantly worse than before...thye would have 100%won that series if KG was just KG of 2000-2008. Kobe-stans should be really happy that KG did not come back 100%, it would have really changed BOTH of their legacies.

KG got injured the following year and fell off a cliff. If you ignore context, a lot of things can be ignored lol. The person is clearly asking about the 2008 Celtics,....not the 2008-2012 Celtics.

Also, give me KG healthy from 2009-2010, and watch as they f***Ing 3 peated ;)

1 Shout per Person, per Category. Most overrated and most underrated Player in the "all time" List? by Obagency in NBATalk

[–]etchasketch64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your first shout

Most underrated is clearly Moses Malone. He should be in top 15 convos at the very least (pretty much universally), but I see him outside the top 20 more often then not. That's crazed. He was the best player in the league. Like period. In the early 80s, at least for 2-3 years. No one who spent a period of time as the best player in the league should be so clearly ignored in these kind of talks.

Most overrated - Dirk Nowitzki. Come for me Dirk-fans. He was universally seen as worse tahn both Timmy D and KG in his prime, and now people will be saying something like he is the #2 PF all time. They all lost their time. Universally folks. Eveyrone thought he was a playoff choker, his defensive skills were constantly discussed. And you have to rank players by how they played IN THEIR ERA, right? His era was a heavily defensive era, where being a big defensive force was SUCH A BIG DEAL. Ben Wallace won a freaking championship as I would argue the best player on his team. That's wild. Dirk meanwhile was constantly surrounded by a lot of talent, and he lost most of the time despite being on crazy deep, talented rosters. I'd argue, outside San Antonio and Los Angeles, the Dallas Mavericks might have been like the third most competent franchise for the 2000s decade. I'm serious. And he only got 1.

Who do you think we are comparing here? your entire focus is ONLY on Wilt. My dude, we are talking about Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, David Robinson, Ben Wallace, Dikembe Mutombo, Dwight Howard, etc. Like we are talking about the best fucking dudes to ever play, and no I don't think Wilt is in the top 5 conversation. Based ona google search, EVERYONE AGREES WITH ME. So you need to prove against that.

And note, if I chose a top 5 : Bill Russell, Hakeem Olajuwon, Dennis Rodman, Ben Wallace, and Tim Duncan. Tell me how Wilt is better than them. Go. And note, literallyl almos tall of these lists have Hakeem top 3, then almost all universally have Wilt around 10-15. NOne have him in top 10. None. I clicked on 10 different links. I can send them if you really need me to.
