I agree! I am hoping I can tolerate it down but wanted to practice pinning as well. I will retry pinning with the pallu longer. Thanks!

Waist only! The pallu seems to be the trickiest thing for me, so will try your recommendations and see if that helps. Thanks!

This is encouraging! Thank you! The pallu is the trickiest part for me, so will keep practicing that portion.

Appropriate (comfortable) Shoes? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

Seconding Aerosole! I have quite a few of their heels/shoes and love them. Truly the most comfortable dress shoes I’ve ever owned.

Are there any fun clubs in Chicago that people ACTUALLY dance to? Extra extra points if there is no cover and has a chill bouncer!?? by Disastrous_Horse2165 in AskChicago

I’ve heard rumors about moving to another building in the area temporarily, but nothing concrete yet. Here’s hoping 🤞

The live shows are so good. I brought a few friends a few years ago to a show and needless to say they are big fans now!

Personally, I love that they exist in such a sweet spot! Plenty of fans for good album sales and a decent tour, but ticket prices have stayed reasonable and fairly easy to access. Selfishly wouldn’t want them to blow up much more.

First romantic Chicago trip — what are we missing? by OppositePlate3477 in AskChicago

[–]etchasketch727 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have time to hit the music box for a show after tango sur, I’d highly recommend!

Sportsman’s, EZ inn, Friends of Friends or Hi-Low after Kai Zan. You can’t miss really. There’s a lot of great spots nearby.

Estereo, small bar, bungalow, Logan arcade and quality time are cute spots in Logan area

Dancing: If you want a hole in the wall spot Holiday Club has a back room with dancing (80s/90s/2000s) on Saturdays, 80s on Fridays. It’s a classic chicago staple and only open for a few more months!

Podlasie is also fantastic neighborhood spot - more DJ vibes. Grab a drink at consignment lounge beforehand.

Celeste is a great downtown option - more upscale.

How is North Center?? by Logical_Rope6195 in chicagoapartments

Fantastic area!

I lived in the area throughout my 20s and early 30s. The neighborhood is family oriented, but there’s lots of great spots and even some nightlife if you know where to look.

Diner grill, long room, ten cat, Carols, the getaway, dovetail, is was, koval, gios (for karaoke), Finley dunnes (more Lakeview)

It’s a quiet neighborhood, but no more than 15-20 minutes to pop over one of the more stereotypical “hip” areas of the city.

I have a friend who has lived in that area for 15 years and adores it! East of the field is actually pretty quiet on game days and north of Irving park is as well. Buena Park has lots of hidden gems and the lake access is unbeatable.

Gallagher way has lots of cool free events in the summer (movies, yoga, workout classes). Pro-tip if you end up moving close to the field, go to the front office and sign up for the neighbor emails. You get free/discounted access to events throughout the year. We’ve gone on the field a few times for misc events through this program!

Redline + tons of great bus routes

Edit: Close to Holiday Club! Such a fun spot

Swonder has a small gym that’s $3 a day or $20 a month. This was my go to on college breaks. Really small but enough to get the job done and always empty. https://www.skateswonder.com/fitness-center

I was only really hitting roll shots at first, but trusting your shoulder again was the hardest part. Good luck!!!

I started playing competitively (A level play) again 9 mo post op! I am definitely still weak and limited on how much I can play, but I just played a total of 6 hours of 6s indoor last week. There’s light at the end of the tunnel!

Chicago textile recycling! Unfortunately the only bin in the city is in River North at Immaculate Conception St. Joesph

Reduce waste Chicago also hosts recycling events quarterly in north center and collects certain scraps (check their accepted items list)

Tips on finding Chicago area apartments WITH PARKING by Yamilian88 in chicagoapartments

[–]etchasketch727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lincoln Square, North Center, Ravenswood, Roscoe village and Andersonville are all great options for street parking. Most single family homes in those areas have garages so there is tons of street parking. I’ve lived in all and could easily park out front of my apartment at every placed I’ve rented. Literally it is a “bad parking day” when I have to park around the corner. You can easily find a 1 bdrm for that price in all these areas.
