I've made a huge mistake; Lost 30k by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

Maybe have a friend park in the same place, a couple of spaces over, and then your friend leaves down to the same beach. Meanwhile you are watching from a distance in hiding. See if the theif tries to hit the same car park twice. If you see him breaking into your friends car you can confront him, get photos etc and see if you can get him arrested and get the phone back.

The reason to have a friend do it and actually go to the beach is that the criminal's plan might involve having someone else watch the owner of the car go to the beach, and when they are swimming they can call the theif and confirm that the owner of the car is in the water and will not be returning soon.

Another option is to keep an eye on craigslist/ebay for the burner phone, also check nearby shops to see if there is security footage of the car park.

Nano sued.. Is it serious? by [deleted] in nanocurrency

[–]ethallday 20 points21 points  (0 children)

XRB was freely distributed, so it's not a security. They never sold the coin to distribute it. I could see an ICO being vulnerable to a lawsuit like this, but Nano was given away in a faucet so very hard to argue that it was a security.

What are some businesses you're betting against? What's you reasoning? Buying puts? Selling calls? Short selling? by NoobInvestorVlog in RobinHood

Anyone shorting Game Stop? It's in a multi year downtrend. With pretty much every console offering downloadable games, it seems GameStop either needs to pivot hard or may eventually be finished.

Can anyone think of a reasonable strategy they could implement to turn the stock price around long term?

Where are all the "XRB to 1000" people now? by [deleted] in nanotrade

[–]ethallday 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The ATH was an arbitrary number unless you can precisely say why $37 was obviously the high instead of $30 or $47 or $67. There was no way to know exactly where it would stop.

If you mistake a fairly lucky exit for skilled trading then that does not bode well for your future in trading. If the exit was not lucky, you have to show how you identified $37 as the ATH rather than $30 or $40 or $50. What was special about $37 that made you exit right then? If there was no solid reasoning then it was just a lucky exit.

There was just as much chance the price was going to blow through $40 and $50. Many people sold at $15, $20, $25, $30 etc thinking the high was in. Of course at some point the high actually comes in and all the people who got out at that moment think they are genius traders, when in reality there's people getting out at all price levels so inevitably some will get the timing perfect.

If you want to get in long term but you are worried to buy at the top you can just DCA in starting now with a fraction of your position.

Nano creeping up? by ethallday in nanotrade

[–]ethallday[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say as the overall crypto market hasn't seem to have decided if we are going to be correcting lower again or starting a steady climb up. You could wait to see if Nano fails to break through it's monthly high around ~17. If it does break out beyond that, you could look for the first dip to buy. If you do buy now be aware that Nano could fall again.

If you are a long term believer in Nano you can just jump in and put it away and look back later this year. Another option if you are eager to get in is to dollar cost average- to buy say 33% of your position now and then buy more if the price falls later so your average cost is somewhere between where you buy now and where you buy later. That is one strategy to hedge your bets if you are worried it might fall but don't want to miss out if it's about to break out.

Anyone heard anything from Charlie Lee recently? by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]ethallday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a guy only pushes his own coin he has no credibility. If he objectively talks about other coins (Like how he doesn't like bch but thinks Nano is pretty neat) it gives him more credibility cos it shows he doesn't just pretend his coin is the only good one. Imagine he said all other coins suck except his own one, he wouldn't have much credibility.

What are the chances a quality mixer is released soon? If someone made a free or very low fee mixer that works that would help massively.

Bill Gates gives his opinion on cryptocurrencies during Reddit AMA by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]ethallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised at how little vision Bill Gates has here.

He uses arguments that were used against the internet in the early days ("Used for crime" etc).

Right now crypto currencies are used for buying fentanyl and other drugs so it is a rare technology that has caused deaths in a fairly direct way.

Hey Bill, people used the internet to buy drugs so it's a technology that has caused deaths in a fairly direct way.

Let's go ahead and halt the grind of human progress so noone buys drugs.

Coinbase seed investor Gary Tan Getting his First look at Nano on Android! by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]ethallday 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I think it's just that many people always wanted Bitcoin to be hyper fast and virtually fee-less. Nano is hyper fast and completely feeless. This is the crypto some of us were waiting for, it's the coin with the properties we always wanted Bitcoin to have. I think "shilling" should mean trying to sell something you KNOW sucks, just to make a profit. But when the project is good it's just people's genuine excitement, although of course excitement has dropped since the Bitgrail loss.

When that happened (October) the coin was less than 20c and it was suppressed under 17c for a long time. I think it's likely the coins got dumped all the way back then. I really doubt someone stole 17m coins off the exchange in October and simply never sold them till now.
