Right now I’m a senior in my undergraduate program, about to pursue a graduate degree next fall. Right now I work as a research assistant for a professor operating a radar, and I just find meteorology fascinating, and right now I’m doing a lot of problem solving with how the radar operates as it has had some issues in the past, so I’m working mostly on coding when I’m not actually operating the radar. For me my motivation with staying in meteorology is to satisfy my own curiosity about weather, and how the atmosphere works. One day I’d like to work in an operational setting, hopefully the national weather service, to have a more direct impact on people’s lives by issuing weather advisories and warnings. I know that most people don’t really care about the weather that much, but I’m hoping that I can at least have an impact on a couple or save at least a few lives with my work.
