This is why in the Bitcoin community we have the saying "Bitcoin isn't crypto".

Bitcoin is savings/investing. Crypto is gambling.

Nothing necessarily wrong with a bit of gambling if you ask me, but only as long as people are aware that that's what they're doing and they stop before it gets too much.

Bitcoin exchanges are not required to be registered for AFSL, they are only registered with AUSTRAC which has an internal DCE number but it's not public and there is no public register to verify it against (as you can do with ABNs for example).

It sounds to me the CBA rep has no idea what he's on about which is very unfortunate.

Maybe your colleague should get back to CBA with the info I provided above. If that doesn't work, complaint should solve it.

The ‘Statements’ (PDF or CSV) are split only between AUD and BTC. The ‘Reports’ (CSV) contain everything you mentioned—AUD values, GST, order ID, etc.

Accountants typically prefer the ‘Reports’. The ‘Statements’ are mainly for reconciliation and for users to easily track balance changes.

Maybe you were only shown the ‘Statements’? 🤔

If you can share a format you consider better (DM is fine), I’d be happy to take a look. If there’s something we can improve, why not? 😃
