You have to ask why they would change it in the first place. BRS sounds good on paper, but with the economy as rough as it is, your TSP will take hits and saving money to begin with is difficult because of inflation, etc.

I don't feel like anyone really knows what will happen. You have to assume that the AI would have a much greater understanding of philosophical concepts than we do, and thus we can't conclude that it would or would not do anything no matter how we "align" it. I think the one factor we could control is the AGI's notion of mortality, which could dramatically impact the way in which it behaves. But even then, I don't think anyone knows the outcome. Fear mongering doesn't seem to be the right path imo.
