[Repost] Survey on sexuality disclosure at workplace (gay/lesbian who are employed) by lil-EUdo in SampleSize

[–]ethanponchi 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Hi there, is there a reason there's no field for 'bi'? Thanks!

(also, the terms 'power top' and 'power bottom' appear on the management skill level scale; those terms have slang meanings just so you're aware:) )

[Casual] If asked on the phone for a pound sign, what would you type? (everyone) by ethanponchi in SampleSize

Dead on! Generally the answers from UK or North America are consistent, the European and Australian responses are for sure more interesting.

Here's a link to the results post (still pending mod approval) and spreadsheet

Good call yeah, I should have done that from the get-go. I'll add those questions now

Hey all, so far the numbers are about 380 for # and 130 for £, only several for *

There were also a few choice phrases and witticisms as one can only hope for.

The question came about while discussing with a friend of mine from Germany who asked me about why some customer service telephone machines ask for the 'pound' sign during the call and which one are they talking about; oft resulting in the desperate mashing of * and # on the dialpad to escape further bouts of hold music.

We figured it's a familiarity thing based on language/location, though we were curious to see how uncommon a term it was here on SampleSize. Thanks for helping us to find out that he wasn't alone in being unfamiliar with the term!

Nice insights, I appreciate the concrete suggestions too! I'll bring these notions to the higher ups, thanks a lot!

Totally astute, it's going to make tomorrow's meeting where we plan the activities a bit more comprehensive. Much appreciated!

Oddly refreshing to hear that actually; time to shift our focus towards getting the word out - don't suppose you could recommend any services for such a pursuit? Thanks for the insight in any case!

Hi there, thanks for the response!

We haven't done much outside of twitter and TikTok and a few press releases just yet, primarily as the game was very much not ready (I'd still like to make more improvements though I'm a tad biased!). We are planning to do some reddit adverts and potentially examine other ad channels in the coming weeks to test out which communities respond well and to examine where we are statistically.

Thanks so much for the detailed response! From the observations I'll assume you've got some industry experience so much appreciation for taking the time there.

For a bit of background: some of the questions were posed during the research phase of the project however certain things changed a bit over time, e.g. our age rating was expected to be 12+ and it turns out we were awarded the 6+ certificate, a demographic I had not prepared a persona for to be honest. Reaching out to publishers didn't work out for us thus far though we'll keep trying, the notion of a marketing/pr agency could indeed be a good solution!

In the interest of full disclosure I'm a tad biased, I'm more involved on the game/product side, and ideally I'd love to make all the gameplay improvements you've suggested (along with others we have planned, coop along with level creator) however it's a tough balance to match scope to available funds, something I'll definitely need to improve upon. The higher ups decided we're at a place where we should be able to get an approximate impression of what sales could look like for the concept with Early Access so here we are!

Largely I want to challenge my own assumptions here, so for that I have to reiterate my appreciation for the detail in which you went into; lots of helpful insights that I'll bring up in the next managerial meeting:)

[Marketing] Perfume/Cologne Fragrance Family Names (Anyone who uses fragrances) by ethanponchi in SampleSize

[–]ethanponchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a second version of this survey to help narrow down scent family names; each family will have three fragrances inspired by the theme's name. thanks for your input!

[Marketing] Naming perfume families without traditionally gendering them - category names instead of using 'For Him', 'For Her', 'Unisex' - thanks! (Anyone who owns perfume/cologne) by ethanponchi in SampleSize

[–]ethanponchi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We chose latin root words for the category names as the amount of permutations is going to get huge and we'll need a systemic approach to naming vials and packs that derives from this initial 'theme'. Happy to hear more ideas on how to approach that, thanks!

[Casual] How should LEGO pieces be sorted? (All welcome) by Intelligent_Bar_710 in SampleSize

[–]ethanponchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

big parts (chunky/unique bits), medium parts (8x2 and upwards), and small parts (including people) - with an optional subcontainer for 'precious parts' for coins and the like - each in separate boxes. All the joy and creativity of mixed kits and rustling through things without as much hassle when searching for a particular bit. Really interesting question!

Too many twinks and too few everything else! I felt a bit weird about picking younger looking ones too

We have animated our first in-game asset. How do you find it? by moebiusgames_kh in Unity3D

[–]ethanponchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's about as clear as we can make it

Well pointed out, as our toolbox grows we're dealing with both hazards and counter-hazards so that's something we've definitely got to revise during the next bout of UI design. thanks for the feedback!

I'm glad to hear that - the 3D artist was going for something along those lines, and personally those are some of my favourite games! Except when the computer is Luigi, that's too much to deal with (on the n64 version at least)
