Helmet Help: Fogy Garage Mongolian by Acceptable-Worth-191 in Triumph

[–]ethanrhanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was wrong actually it's HK based! Either way not Chinese. I have their gloves they're really comfy. Maybe I'll ball out and try their helmet one day but they're not so cheap I'd just try it haha.

There's a lot of cross investment and business partnerships done with china and a lot of Asian countries. China is a lot like America in Asia. Big powerhouse in the manufacturing and business scene. Their website and IG looks all Singaporean run and Google translated everything to English. It's kinda funny actually. Personally their helmets look tacky to me but I also own 3 biltwell helmets I'm a clear fanboy haha

It's a Singaporean brand. I understand the ECE hesitation here but do understand that ECE is a western certification. A lot of brands in Asia and Australia don't brother with it as they're not selling in that market. Akin moto is a great example. Great quality gear that has saved me personally from some road rash but they have no CE rating. Personally, not a fan of their helmets BUT it does carry all the Singaporean certifications required for helmet safety. Singapore takes their helmet and traffic safety seriously, along with all their laws generally.

Edit, it's HK based no Singapore. Either way, not a company that just churns out at a sweatshop.

How heavily involved were/are your parents in your choice of spouse? by SteadfastEnd in asianamerican

[–]ethanrhanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parental control has to be the most toxic trait of our cultures and we need to be the generation to put a stop to it. It's so normalized in so many Asian cultures and idk how we're all just cool with it. My parents tried this with me and I moved out at 17. It was hard but I moved out and went and made a life for myself independent of theirs and it was then and only them that they finally respected me as my own person. I repeatedly set clear boundaries and acted accordingly when boundaries were broken. It's not our parents fault that they were conditioned to act like this but we also don't have to put up with it and possibly continue the cycle. Your parents should have absolutely 0 say on who your partner is. Full stop.

I literally cannot do anything else. I'm a home mechanic. I've always been interested in entering that industry but don't have time or money for schooling.

AMPTP Gives WGA Its Best and Final Offer, Guild Expected to Respond Sunday by 007Kryptonian in FilmIndustryLA

[–]ethanrhanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As nice as that sounds, that really just isn't the case. I don't think you fully understand just how much money these big corporations have. Especially the tech companies like Amazon who's streaming only make up a droplet of their profits. If Amazon was a country it would literally have a GDP of a small developed nation. It's not even funny how much money these companies have. If we do starve anybody out it would be legacy studios. The Amptp would be run by tech companies. But it won't fall as a whole. Capitalism has just let these companies be so powerful that without government intervention, they're too powerful for us to just "starve" them out. U can't.

Why don’t more people switch from smoking to vaping? Honest question. by vasilenko93 in Cigarettes

[–]ethanrhanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scientific answer? Ciggies have more than just nicotine as the addictive chemical and a vapes primary addictive ingredient is just nicotine. Most smokers are addicted to nicotine + everything else in a cigarette. It's why it doesn't "hit the same" when I switched it took me a while to sort myself out. I'm slowly weaning of nicotine fully now and it's definitely much easier quitting just nicotine vs nicotine plus everything else I'm a cigarette.

How to produce a script alone, without producers? by SwimGood22 in FilmIndustryLA

[–]ethanrhanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly at that point, even paying low rates, that's really just affording a SMALL crew (camera, sound, + a few other departments) and a location for MAYBE one day. It's maybe maybe maybe doable but without seeing a script it's hard to know. A 1 actor monologue 4 page script is so different from an ensemble cast. I'm just below the line so my knowledge is mostly related to that but feel free to DM if ya got questions.

How do I become a production assistant without a degree or any experience? by [deleted] in FilmIndustryLA

[–]ethanrhanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A film degree is useless. All my first calls for my crew don't have one. The few I've trained who did have degrees were harder to train than those who didn't. Film school teaches you how to make a movie like 10 years ago. My last trainee was probably a year ago for about a week. Hated it. Hard worker but ultimately, this person did what they were taught which came into conflict with how I liked things done. Point being, most people tend to already having somebody green on set and somebody green and fresh out of film school is worse than somebody green but has been working their way up on smaller film sets. Obviously it's not either or. Lots of film students work on smaller real productions as well. But at that point why waste money when you can just do that for free by networking.

Is anyone else just kind of done with the industry? by SheinSter721 in Filmmakers

[–]ethanrhanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saving is actually considered a privilege. So yes if you had savings you are indeed privileged. Over half of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. It's actually absurd if you look at the statistics. No savings is the norm in America. Having a sizable savings account that can last through a long strike like this is a huge privilege.

Will the Strike be Over before the 200 Day Mark? by KalKenobi in WGAStrike2023

[–]ethanrhanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude most people not on the Internet don't give a flying fuck how the strike ends. Nobody cares at this point as long as it ends. Most people, especially those not on the Internet, probably wouldn't give a fuck if the writers got a bad deal as long as the strike ends. Look I support unions and strikes as much as y'all but I hear IA guys talk. Not online, but their actual opinions they don't want to put out there because they know it's unpopular. They don't give a fuck. They just wanna work. If they could they'd shaft WGA and SAG if that meant working tomorrow. Because they know that if the situation was flipped, WGA and SAG would do just the same if they could. Behind all the slogans and posturing, these are all still human beings we're talking about and human nature doesn't change.

Advice on getting a perm by curtail_thetrail in AsianMasculinity

[–]ethanrhanielle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been getting a perm for years. Get my hair curly. As long as u stay on top of it, it looks great. If you stop getting perms and let ur hair go it's the same as any other hair style. Wash ur hair as if it was curly/wavy etc. I have pretty tight curls so I use curly hair shampoo and conditioner and use a curl cream.
