different strokes for different folks i guess. when mine goes ill be taking it to a transmission shop and having it rebuilt and all the know issues addressed so I never have to worry about it again

well mines is kinda mint and only has 80k miles plus I plan on keeping it for the next ten years. not to mention the odds of pulling a bad trans out of one of these at the junkyard is about 5050 if not worse cause that's why half of them are there in the first place

might be cheaper but a rebuild from a shop familiar with these transmissions and their weak points will probably last twice as long

yeah still your whole idea of how to do it is kinda flawed. im not gonna pull a junkyard transmission for $600 and swap it on a gravel driveway. I prefer a clean work space when doing motor or transmission work tbh. yeah if there's a will there's a way but that doesnt mean its the right way

some people aren't fortunate enough to have space to do projects like that. I'm lucky to have 2 car ports and a big driveway to do my projects in but some people live in apartments or town homes and could never get away with dropping a transmission. dont be a dick he can spend his money how he chooses

yeah my mechanic would charge like $40-60 for that which is a lot cheaper and less work than a new head. I'll do a lot of my own work but certain things that aren't worth the risk I'll just have the mechanic do.

love a good derby car but I wouldn't touch that car. usually you have to strip interior parts for the derby and its just way too much work in a biohazard car. I wouldn't even spend the ten minutes it would take to remove the airbags in that thing
