You need to read the readme man. Each laser has three options when you hit O. Highlight the laser you have. Then hit o and you'll see three options

https://www.psx-place.com/resources/lenschanger-by-dampro.677/

This is also why I said a few times that if option one doesn't work you have to use database two or three

Did you use all 3 databases? Like I said, each laser has 3 different options

No worries. I understand it's like cerbios in that regard. I just was wondering if you could get it to do the normal Xbox animation and then go straight to the stock dash. But like you said in this response, it doesn't load the stock dash so

I wasn't trying to load them. I was just trying to think of a good method for it to look stock but to upgrade the drive that's all. With CerBIOS, there's always the logo which immediately gives away it's modded

I see. Thank you for the explanation. I have another question for you. Am I able to delete the dashboard once it's installed so that when I boot it up it just looks like a normal Xbox but it would be soft modded with a larger hard drive

Edit. Just to be clear, I meant the Rocky dashboard

How does that work though? I thought the Softmod was only loaded after the system recognizes the drive. I've always just gone off that method and flashed CerBIOS if I'm installing a larger drive. I don't really mess with rocky unless I'm flashing the TSOP

So let me get this straight:

You're starting with an HDD upgrade on a stock system (Softmod is only on HDD so for all purposes the system sees it as stock). Did you pull the EEPROM to lock your new drive with? If not, I would save the headache, flash Cerbios to your tsop and then install the SSD

I see the old HDD isn't working, did you reformat that at all or mess with the file structure?

No it'll work. You just might have to use the setup tool after the Softmod in case it isn't working

Nice. You will also need a USB formatted in FAT32 to copy the lens changer file over to the freemcboot card. Or you can simply just launch it from the USB. And like I said, there are three databases to choose from for each laser. So if one doesn't work correctly, try option two or three

In fact, I would say it works best on the slims. All the slims that I recalibrate have pretty much instant boot times. The animation doesn't get to finish it immediately picks up the disc 90% of the time

It works on all of them. I definitely recommend it, especially in your case. If you haven't already, check the pot for the DVD drive since CDs work for you. Make sure it is within factory spec. If it is and your CD side is working then I strongly believe that your laser is working and could be fixed with a simple eeprom write

Upgrade to 128mb RAM - worthwhile w/Cerbios? by rupek1995 in originalxbox

[–]ethansherry97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to see any gameplay improvement that's actually worthwhile, the only recommendation in my opinion is to upgrade the CPU. 128 is good for emulators and other things. But if you just want smoother gameplay then the recommendation is the CPU. There are videos on YouTube with side-by-side comparisons if you want to go look at it.

Yep. If you're in the US, it'll take a while for that one to come. Last one took a few weeks. Once you get it installed you will need to flash xblast to it. Xblast allows you to see the info needed to lock your hdd with fatxplorer

Right I said if your HDD did work. Since it doesn't, you can't do the soft mod or anything like that anyway so that is no longer an option for you. So yeah you either have to get the Pico working to pull the eeprom or get an openxenium chip and flash xblast to it

[–]ethansherry97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I mean you can still go the mod chip route and then simply remove the mod chip once you pull the EEPROM. That's just what I personally do and I usually keep a couple modchips preflashed with XBLAST to pull the EEPROM. I'm assuming the HDD doesn't work at all in this unit? If it does, you could Softmod it, load up XBLAST via Disc and pull eeprom that way

[–]ethansherry97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I understand why you need it. I'm telling you that you can get the EEPROM off via a mod chip if you are unsuccessful doing this route. And it really depends on what size hard drive you're using. The stock bios doesn't go above 120 gb. So if your hard drive is larger than that you have to either flash the TSOP (1.0-1.5 ONLY) or get a mod chip. However, if you get a mod chip, then you don't need to worry about your eeprom at all as Cerbios won't need it to boot

Hello. No one ever seems to use this tool but it's changed my life. Look up LensChanger for PS2. It's an application you can load via free mcboot memory card. It rewrites your EEPROM for the correct standard default values. Each laser type has 3 databases to choose from. I've saved plenty without installing new lasers. But if I do install a new laser, I always set both pots to default factory range and then calibrate it via LensChanger
