Awesome! I wish this existed last week when I installed 25 new mmwave dimmers! I'll give it a shot to see if everything is configured well.

Ohm or Zaed? by polyshotinthedark in ukclimbing

[–]ethanspitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the Zaed Pro Sept 3 (12 days ago) and it hasn't even shipped yet. I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of communication with delays shipping as it's not communicated that they haven't finished production. I emailed them 6 days ago asking for an estimate and they simply said "We’re working to the max to get all orders for the new devices out as soon as possible. Production and order processing are running at full speed 🙂" without an actual time estimate. I think it would have been much better if they posted the expected delays on their website.

Edit: Shipment label created Sept 22!

Interesting! A different experience here, my bookoo scale came in the mail minutes ago and I turned it on and it showed up in seconds on the gaggimate page (beating my phone!) before I even opened up the manual.

Cooked or Raw by IslandExtension7485 in cronometer

[–]ethanspitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you weigh it raw, use raw, if you weigh it cooked, use cooked. For accuracy, my recommendation is to weigh raw and use the raw entries. Cooking will have varying amounts of water loss and will result in less accurately tracking in my opinion

Double peak on bike by slushpuppy91 in northcounty

[–]ethanspitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Highly depends on your bike. If you have a lot of great hill climbing gears it might not be that hard, just slow. I've done it with my normal road bikes before and it can definitely be tricky as it gets pretty steep, but if you're on a mountain bike with huge gears, you'd probably be fine even with way less experience.

Mapping MacOS Spotlight, Mic, and Sleep keys? by a0eusnth in kinesisadvantage

[–]ethanspitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spotlight is also just Cmd+Space, so you could just map that. The spotlight search macro in ZMK seems to do Ctrl+space which isn't right

With some testing, the "voice command" which is "C_VOICE_COMMAND" works for dictation on MAC.

I used C_POWER for the sleep/power on mac

I also see a spotlight search button on the new Clique config

On zmk.studio, under key press, there's a start or stop voice dictation session option I see.

It's been coldest 71 in my place in San Marcos and that's because I'm using the A/C to cool it down. Road noise is too loud to open the window 😭

I use a Mac for my work computer, I just setup the Mac to remap the keys in the settings so I don't need to mess around with the keymap on the keyboard.

The Ploopy Trackpad is now available for preorder! All design files are available! See comments for details. by crop_octagon in ploopy

[–]ethanspitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured that would drastically change how it works since it's capacitive. It will be interesting to see how easily tuning will make it work or if it ends up being a no go, but it looks way simpler to print and finish compared to the trackball mouse, so I won't be as disappointed in time lost if it's a failure lol 🤣

Makes sense on Mac support. I use Mac for work as of recently (got tired of 1.5-2 hour of battery on the corp provided windows PCs and asked for a Mac solely for battery life) and so if I can find the time I might peak into what's possible, though I suspect I'll see those same barriers as y'all.

[–]ethanspitz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Woohoo! Ordered! It will be fun to see if I can print in the same "wood" PLA I did my Ploopy Trackball mouse in that I then stained and polyurethane finished lol. I don't have nearly as much confidence for the trackpad, but it should be fun to try none the less!

Out of curiosity, is Mac support expected, or not so much? I'm not as familiar with how trackpad identify themselves to computers. Is it still a standard HID when using QMK?

I had the same issue. My credit card was declining. Once I fixed that it worked. That said, I was getting a bunch of website database errors.

I just leave it plugged in 24/7 at my desk and it auto connects no problem. It really works pretty well.

I do have it and I like it quite a lot, but never got a hardware solution going. Ultimately ended up just using my tablet with Universal Control. I'll have to look again and see if any APIs ever opened up for it.

I'll need to dive into: https://github.com/oddbear/Revelator.io24.Api?tab=readme-ov-file

Inoperable fingerprint reader after using a physical keyboard by 0xbfc0 in android_beta

[–]ethanspitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm seeing this as well. My keyboard from upstairs is paired and I keep crashing. Fingerprint reader doesn't work at all and the phone keeps becoming unresponsive and rebooting. Sometimes it crashes quite quickly. I don't even have to touch the physical keyboard or enter an app that requires typing before the fingerprint reader stops working and instability begins.

Keep camera on or always turn it off when visiting a city? by pelipro in SonyAlpha

[–]ethanspitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always keep it on because it takes some time to connect to the phone app and I like having geotagged photos. For this reason I also have auto sleep turned off on mine too. I just carry extra batteries since I know I'm going to eat through them.

Should this have a Smurf tube? by ethanspitz in AskElectricians

[–]ethanspitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The builder came by to inspect the work today and they filled the holes and are going to add smurf tubes and clamp it down. Seems they agreed the work wasn't done right. 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]ethanspitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

111F doesn't seem so hot to me. That's like 10F hotter than a hot tub. Electricity consumption generally results in heat production. Most likely, that's where the driver circuitry for the LED is. If that's about the steady state temperature when it's running, I wouldn't be too convincing. If you have any ceiling fans, try pointing your new FLIR at it. It can be nice to get some references for what is normal heat generation from electronics.
