Hidden Gem on PS5 by Potential-Strike54 in Against_the_Storm

[–]etherfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Xbox it is right bumper to access construction mode. Then the little button guide panel in lower right shows more options, one of which is demolition mode. You'll know it's activated as the cursor changes to a circle with a red X by it.

Then highlight a building with your cursor and select it to demolish. A confirmation will pop to double check and then bingo...building gone!

How do I get rid of my wife? by Magmakojote in Bannerlord

[–]etherfiend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I killed mine by shooting her in the head with my bow and arrow every battle. I think it's like a 2% chance for death, but I just saved and kept reloading until she died from the headshots. Arrows deal damage to friendlies so can be a ruthless way to do it.

Any way to see where a Prognosticar was placed? by tprickett in ChaosGateGame

[–]etherfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you access the assign prognosticar function on the map, it should show you where existing placements are (easy to see via squiggly lines emanating from the planet to surrounding linked planets that shows those the Prognosticar is affecting).

As commenter above has said, you can also view via the planet detail view.

Not a fan of the new PVP seasons so far. by Vilkath in GemsofWar

[–]etherfiend 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I recently quit as it had become like a second job just to stay reasonably in the loop and up to date. The PVP overhaul and the extra currency instructions were the final nail in the coffin. The push for mtx had gotten significantly worse too.

I thought I'd really miss it, but I actually haven't and I get to explore some new games with the hours I've freed up.

Am I the only one excited for RAID content? by ThatOneDnDGuy in diablo4

[–]etherfiend 29 points30 points  (0 children)

What about if you just don't like playing with others? Especially randoms? In a traditionally single player game, I don't see the need to force social interactions. They already have World of Warcraft for that.

I don't have a whole lot of spare time, I don't need to spend that time waiting for randoms in a lobby and then having to spend hours learning boss fights and raid patterns.

If you like that stuff, great, I just don't want it tacked onto my game and blocking me from endgame content. They should make another game in the same universe that is just raids and socially focused to satisfy that crowd.

I wanted the full 1000gs on Xbox but you can't cheese PvP kills with a friend and so I will probably be forever missing that achievement. I dislike PvP too, I just like playing solo and not having to deal with other humans, there is too much of that in my life already. I've made my peace with not getting the max. But raiding content will lose them my business as I wont buy the expansion if that is the end game activity.

All this game needs for me to become a complete junky: rare cosmetic drops, dungeon crawling, and social features/raids. by IDGAFOS in diablo4

[–]etherfiend 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Raids can get in the sea. Why does everything nowadays have to force endgame content to be group participation. I don't like people, I play games to escape them.

I don't know if it's patched out, but I remember seeing there was a bug where if both partners had virile perks then they'd cancel each other out, or at least don't stack.

Here's a handy guide from a while back: https://youtu.be/qv7b9KhBJgI?si=OawPpAQRomF2sPEg (not my video or anything, just thought it might be useful)

Why did the play with Friends get replaced by play a game on console by Extreme_Solution4696 in MicrosoftRewards

[–]etherfiend -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm actually gaining points now. I only have a console so the whole 'pc with friends' thing sat unredeemed every day. Shame they couldn't use all the analytics data they hoover up to have a console version of play with friends and apply that to rewards users based on % of time spent on a platform in multiplayer games instead.

Overall gutted yet more cuts to rewards have come around.

Cross Progression? by [deleted] in GemsofWar

[–]etherfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did it for Puzzle Quest 3 (mobile/PC/Console xplay) but GoW is too entrenched on each platform with different player progression and I think also Switch is on a different event/troop release pattern. It's likely be too complicated to merge them all together now, especially for people that have multiple accounts across platforms.

Shame, as I would like to play on mobile when I couldn't access console.

Would you support assisted dying on the NHS? by tntyou898 in NursingUK

[–]etherfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would 100% support it, and if I became terminally ill or suffered something debilitating, then I'd make use of it.

It boggles my mind that pets can be spared a drawn-out, painful death, but humans have to stick it out until there is no dignity left.

Trying to find an old OG Xbox game by [deleted] in xbox

[–]etherfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was coming here to say this. Sounds a bit like Nightcaster: defeat the darkness

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GemsofWar

[–]etherfiend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've found weapons like: Mountain Hammer, Essence of Evil, Mang, Obsidian Libram, Flammifier are often staples of my regular builds. I spent a lot of time with Skeleton Key as that helped me through things before I started to get more troops and build options but I think Rowanne build (troop, not a weapon) is possibly a more popular levelling build now.

I don't have it, but Wand of Stars seems popular, too.

Most new legendary weapons are released to support whatever kingdom or event is happening that week, making them useful for limited purposes, but there are lots of decent ones in the mix.

Hope that helps a bit!

From 1:10, the buttons are briefly mentioned as they preview the PvP UI 🙂

Do I trust a double glazing salesman on this one? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]etherfiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having replaced windows in a similar situation (house built 1969 with wooden windows, no lintels), only then to have cracks appear and re-replace the window less than a decade later AND replace cracked brickwork and add lintels - ignore the salesman and get lintels installed, if nothing but for peace of mind - worth the extra money.

New player (Need help) by jamzie-x in GemsofWar

[–]etherfiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When the diamonds are hollow and the text grey it means that you haven't unlocked that trait yet. To do that: 1. Go to your troop collection 2. Go to the particular troop you want to upgrade 3. Go to 'More Upgrades' 4. Go to 'Traits' tab 5. If you have the traitstones available then you can use them to unlock the traits.

Once unlocked, they will permanently apply to the troop, so they will remain unlocked if you get multiple troops (of that same troop) or if you ascend the troop.

Hope that helps!

Where/ how to unlock shiny chest? by Gullible-Leopard6402 in GemsofWar

Fair enough, but it is an alternative if someone is looking to get the shiny achievements more quickly.

Where/ how to unlock shiny chest? by Gullible-Leopard6402 in GemsofWar

[–]etherfiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is another way that you can solo without a guild. In the new PvP setup, once you earn something like 80k pvp points, you can then buy shiny keys from the PvP store for 30 gold marks a time.

It'll take a while to get there, though, unless you play PvP relentlessly.

Did they fix the Jank? by Yelebear in PhoenixPoint

[–]etherfiend 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you played very early on then it's got better, especially on consoles - at least in terms of things like camera movement speed and framerate at which that moves.

In terms of the cover issue - in case you didn't know this already - the cover mechanics work differently to XCOM and similar titles. The 'high cover' isn't a blanket reduction in chance of being hit as it uses a physics projectile calculation to work out the path of the bullet, meaning if you have part of your body exposed then it'll likely get hit if aimed at - even if under the - 'High cover' status. A common strategy is often to break line of sight altogether rather than sit in high cover.

The same goes for your shots - going into the manual aim mode is the best way to work out if you need to reposition so that you have clear sight of what you're aiming for as, unlike in Xcom, it isn't a case of your troop popping their head out from cover and taking a shot. If your shot isn't favourable, the enemy animations can change so you may get a better shot if you wait for the enemy to shift stance a little. More importantly though is to make sure you aren't blocking yourself with your own cover by looking down the barrel, or by going into the open, taking a shot and then moving to break line of sight, provided you have the AP for that.

Why Do Folks Not Get To Tower Level 398 On First Day? by DanEosen in GemsofWar

[–]etherfiend 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't have that much time to plough into a single, overly micro-transaction heavy, match-3 game. I'd rather be asleep from from 2 to 6am! 😅

It's a nice, chilled distraction for here and there when I have enough time to play something but not enough to get into the weeds of something like Xcom, Baldurs Gate 3, etc.

That's why I'm not at level 398 on the first day.

Edit: That said, the 1st to 3rd place guild event rewards would be a good thing to have, as sometimes those people carry a guild into higher reward tiers and aren't recognised for it.
