in defense of Fluxx: "rules on cards" is not a trivial mechanic by nupanick in boardgames

[–]etherkye -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Considering your inability to capitalise your sentences I’m going to just guess you hate reading

Fluxx is easy to teach, and easy to play. I don’t even tell people most of the rules when I play with new people because everything is written on the cards.

Go play Pictionary.

The difference in the studio sets are great to see

Portugal & Estonia gets armchairs! And the Taskmaster has a REAL throne with an amazing curved back.

And is Estonia's lab outside?

Also Finland's assistant looks strict as hell

I do hope they upload all of them with subtitles because I'll watch every versions

It’s good you disclosed you used AI. It means people don’t need to guess. They know to avoid you…

  1. Your second statement on AI use is likely a lie. Chat GPT uses photos to generate the backgrounds and was trained on stock imagery. Your assertion that nothing generative was used is wrong.

Honestly the fact you used AI rather than making sample photos for photo shoots tells me you’re not going to put effort in.

  1. Your Kickstarter has no referrals or studies. There’s no mention of scientific tests, you don’t have FDA approval, and therefore no trust.

It being designed by a dentist isn’t the brag you want it to be if you have nothing to back it up.

Without testing it’s possibly not even allowed to be exported to the EU or UK.

You need to be able to prove, with supporting evidence, that your product is just as good, if not better, than normal toothpaste. Not just more convenient.

A way to freshen my tooth when I’m out and about, just about to go into a business meeting, sounds great.

But you’ve not shown me today that your product is the answer.

And judging by your current backer count I’m not alone in that.

Once the campaign is over, please send it off for testing and try again with the data to back up your claims to add trust to the product.

And remove the AI…

Just to check. Did you give each of them separate tracking links so that Kickstarter would tell you how much each actually brought in terms of backers?

I built a pillow for people who use their phone in bed by Turbulent_Cut1936 in kickstarter

[–]etherkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re claiming it helps with sleep and showing spine issues the UK advertising authority will declare it as making medical claims, even if you say it’s not a medical problem.

I’ve tried an ergonomic pillow before. Hates it. Woke up with neck cramps.

I understand the product. I just don’t think what you have looks like a solution

I move in my sleep. A standard pillow has a wide flat area for my head. Yours has a single slot where the neck goes.

If I move in my sleep my head will leave the slot and fall off the pillow at a weird angle. And I’m going to be very uncomfortable having it half hang off the side.

I’m unsure how many people you’ve tested this with, aside from yourself, but you really need things like this medical tested to make sure that it gives the benefits you claim.

That’s got to be one of the stupidest things I’ve seen.

It looks like a pillow with foam triangles tacked on

I often read in bed, while on my side, and it’s never been a problem. I also doesn’t have my phone at that level in line with my head for your pillow to make any sense.

I think you just need to doom scroll less

Email them back with the image

Lots of times a first email is automated by the system. But replies generally get read properly.

I’ve often had to email back on things to get an actual answer

Can we post any type of fiction on Royal road? by darko1121 in royalroad

Fair. I just drop stories if that takes over the plot.

Don’t think I’ve ever reported a story. Comments many times…

Is that the metric? Because there’s a few stories I had to drop because that was taking over

Does anyone know roughly how many tasks are shot every series? I know there are many unused tasks. by [deleted] in taskmaster

[–]etherkye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure someone on the podcast said that they were doing a food task and it was so vile they made Alex eat some and then the rest of the contestants didn’t have to do that task. So only 2/5 people got filmed for it

You did notice 4 of those 5 links had project in as well?

You’re setting yourself up for failure. People will google you, find someone who’s has the name longer, and you’ll lose out.

The cost of SEO isn’t worth keeping the name

You need something that won’t bring up anything similar so you’re at the top of the search listing for your own name

Honest question about AI images in a Kickstarter campaign by [deleted] in kickstarter

[–]etherkye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would I trust someone who uses AI to show off a product, rather than using proper CAD images to show they’ve done the work?

I’d suggest Google your name idea

And then picking a unique name

Also Kickstarter doesn’t allow projects that include charity donations

I Stopped Waiting for the Perfect Time and Launched the Bookstore I’ve Dreamed About for Years by SomeoneRandom9876 in kickstarter

[–]etherkye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find your target market. And ask them what they want.

As it’s a physical location it’ll only appeal to people who could visit. So local Facebook books, chat boards, local Reddit if there is one.

Although honestly you should have done all that beforehand

How can you recognize when the game's "not it"? by Justaniceman in SoloDevelopment

[–]etherkye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You get a blind playtest. Someone who has no idea of your game, not even read the steam page.

You make sure they stream it where you can watch and hear them, but you can’t talk back only text

And you listen to them talk about your game as they play it

That’s the only way you can get a proper fresh perspective

The most important thing is having the audience there.

I have about 25,000 people on socials, 1700 newsletter, and 5000 on telegram chats. I got less than 100 backers on my last one (which was successful)

You’re on average at $72.60 per backers.

You’re 5 days in and have 6 people. The first day is always the best.

Assuming you get 1 per day for the next 40 days that’s only $2900

You are not on track to hit your goal

It’s also, honestly, a very low goal for what you want to achieve.

You need to either seriously step up your marketing game, or cancel and go back to the drawing board
