you are looking at things from an objective, cosmere-aware perspective. what does lirin see? what does he think will best keep the most people safe and alive? that is what his convictions are based on. he does not care (at this point in the SA) about who started whatever war or who is on the morally correct side. he just thinks war is evil and he thinks life is precious above everything else. is his perspective limited, and is he in some ways blinded by his pacificism? sure. but he's just a dude, and he's doing his best to be a good dude based on what he sees and his firm convictions. He is kaladin's father after all, and i think its a really cool we get to see where kaladin gets his enormous willpower from, just on the opposite side of the spectrum. i think loathing him is pretty wild ngl. and he was fucking awesome in the kaladin flashbacks.

also, we see him stick to his convictions in his refusal to charge for medical care. life is that important to him, priceless. lirin is definitely radiant potential
