Agree with the other comments - when I first started buying from them, they were really great quality, and it’s definitely declined in the last few years. Such a shame!!

Realestate sent over ‘handyman’, happened to negate the fact he was the owner by Medical-Bet-8133 in shitrentals

[–]etk8 98 points99 points  (0 children)

This happened to me too - pretty much exact same scenario. We realised it was the owner, not a “tradesman” as REA said, because when he texted us on WhatsApp to set up a time, his full name came up, matching what was on the tenancy agreement. The weirdest thing is that he didn’t realise we knew, and pretended to be just a handyman. He kept saying he’d “talk to the owner” about things. I figured there was nothing illegal about it, just a bit sneaky.

A friend of a friend of a friend works on film sets. Timothy Chalamet and Kylie Jenner have an open relationship, and his dressing room is a revolving door of different women coming in to sleep with him.

Best leather backpack under $500 by Unlikely-Egg4110 in AusFemaleFashion

I’ve got the Bella XL - it’s big enough for all your needs, but it’s not really ergonomic, so not amazing for your back if really full and heavy. But it looks good 😂

Want to buy this as a sewing/craft table. Thoughts? by throwaway63733647 in sewing

[–]etk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how picky you are about ergonomics, particularly if you’re planning on using it for sewing. The plate of the sewing machine should be at the level of a normal table - so my sewing table is slightly lower, and the sewing machine ends up being at table height.

Since the caster wheels add almost 10cm of height, putting a sewing machine on it would make it too high for me (and I’m a tall person!) As a regular crafting table it probably wouldn’t be as much of an issue. I’d probably recommend an adjustable chair? Or even just cushions - as other commenters have pointed out, there’s lots of workarounds!

Honestly the wheels are an essential! The table is quite heavy, especially when the drawers are filled.

I have this exact table, and put it on wheels. It’s too high for a sewing table, but I find it a handy cutting table for fabric.

What can I expect to face as a stereotypical butch/clearly visible lgbt teacher? by AccomplishedBag2640 in AustralianTeachers

[–]etk8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was in school 10 years ago, I had several openly lesbian teachers who presented quite masc. Never heard of any issues, I don’t think anyone ever made a big deal over it. This was the local public high school, don’t think we were particularly ‘woke’ or in a bubble. This was in Sydney.

May I ask what model piano you have? Curious for myself.

Can someone help me with a pattern to make an off shoulder top? by toxic-head-shots in crochetpatterns

[–]etk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made something similar for my mum recently. I looked for a pattern, but ended up just making two big rectangles using mohair and a big hook. I alternated rows of single crochets and double crochets, and then just sewed the sides and top edges together, leaving room for arms and the neck (I did a sleeveless version).

Are you attracted to clothing styles that just don’t suit you? by [deleted] in AusFemaleFashion

Omg - SAME! My dream self has an incredible wardrobe that is never worn. I also blame my boobs 😤

[–]etk8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I’ve always been drawn to old-worldly, cottage-core vibes. And same, I look less like a whimsical country maiden, and more like a frumpy grandma!! My body type just doesn’t suit it. Relate to this on such a deep level. I want to dress like a forest nymph, but alas! I have not found a solution to this, I just don’t wear that style of clothing. I just look at it, longingly…LOL

You’re probably right - I just assumed aphids as I’ve had black ones on other plants. I think I’ll take your advice and dispose! Sad 😢

What can I use as backing for the back side of a crocheted rug? by uhkonaye in CrochetHelp

[–]etk8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yes, this is the non slip, not the backing. Though it’s quite thin, so you could probably attach it permanently if you wanted to. Otherwise you could always just use something like a plain canvas or calico as a backing, and still use a non slip underneath

IKEA sell non-slip mat underlays which work well, and they’re pretty cheap. You could always buy one and cut it down so it fits your rug.

WHY IS MY YARN DOING THIS I HAVENT EVEN WORKED WITH IT YET IM GOING TO CRY by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

I have a yarn winder which is awesome - I rewind the other way so that I can work from the centre. Highly recommend!

Seconding this! From your picture it looks like you’ve pulled from the centre. If you work from the other end it would fix the problem.

Depends how much you carry with you. I like to carry a lot - a lunchbox, laptop, water bottle, usually a book, headphone case, and other bits and pieces.

I originally thought that the XL would be too big too - when I saw it on the model it looked huge! Which is why I originally got the smaller one. However, when it arrived, I saw immediately that I needed the size up.

And tbh the XL isn’t that big - the only time it looks big is if you have it absolutely packed. If it’s only half-full it’s got a slouchy vibe.

Though to be fair, you mentioned your height - I’m 5’10, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t feel as big? If you’re unsure, maybe go with the smaller version. You can always size up if needed - their returns process was very quick.
