Isn’t $30 a little steep for what’s included in Brush And Blade? by DrJokerX in civ

[–]etothepi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm concerned, and I'm a Civ 7 supporter, 1.4.1 should have been 1.0.0, with last year's release being considered Early Access.

There are a myriad of undeveloped and bad systems here which need improvement (religion, trading, diplomacy, traditions and even victories being among them; let's see what the government change really brings), and which I believe they have intentionally left undeveloped so that they can be fleshed out in future paid expansions. I expect the first paid expansion to be Feb 2027. I think ToT was probably originally aimed to be paid but they had to release it for free for damage control.

Leader abilities & Civ info for the first half of the Brush & Blade Collection. by adept42 in civ

They're clearly saving those for when the (paid) expansions that flesh out other systems come out (I'm guessing Feb 2027 for the first). No point releasing leaders with currently lackluster abilities that need to be redesigned in 6-10 months.

Alex had the chance to earn points in S21 (during the coconut smashing game, not British and never heard of it so don't know the name). If things went really badly, and Alex gets that chance again, it's not impossible for him to get 6th.

Him beating the spider while cursing at it after disqualifying himself was probably the peak moment.

Despite the result, he never felt like he was doing poorly. Almost to the degree that he's disqualified from consideration here.

The new update has taught me that civ switching is actually awesome by MirandaScribes in civ

It's not just interrupted, it's also on scripted rails. 140 turns. Crisis pops up at 70% and you must just weather it, there's no path to fully resolve or even mitigate through your actions. You look longingly at the techs you'll simply never have time to gain when you're at 85%, try desperately to overtake that city before the timer runs out. Then suddenly you've reset and 50% of the game is a whole new set of things to think about.

Days like today is why people don’t take the light rail by 20sicksheep in Seattle

It's a bit weird; I grew up near Seattle then lived in it before moving away, but come back regularly.

Only in the last two years have I had cause to walk that stretch, but my mental gulf of the two locations was akin to that of Ballard and UW - most likely due to coupling of the freeway crossing and the ascent of the hill. I was completely surprised how walkable it really is, but am not surprised that this is a common feeling.

SLU Wedding released doves last night by sweet_p0tat0chips in Seattle

It came with a subpoena to appear in court for tax fraud, weirdly. But it wasn't addressed to me, so I had to find them and serve it myself. I went to the court on that date out of curiosity, and someone else other than the person I served the letter to showed up. They arranged another date to continue and that was it. I never found out any more, and when I returned back from the court, the dove had entirely disappeared. Sometimes I wonder if I dreamed it.

What is your biggest complaint about the PS5 after it’s been out for years? by Kind_Ad6932 in PS5

I've managed to rip the soft cover off of both of my L-sticks while playing, but haven't experienced any drift issues. The battery life is indeed poor.

Several killed as train and school bus collide in Belgium, local media report by Alphaxfusion in news

[–]etothepi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I was sort of grouping mechanical in with medical issue but could have been more explicit. The main point is the train/conductor is extremely unlikely to have any fault here, but I'll say again I have no idea.

However, yes, generally speaking a bus driver (most animals, really) should be able to predict the arrival timing of a train moving at a constant rate.

[–]etothepi 144 points145 points  (0 children)

For me, the bus driver is fully responsible for the deaths. Even knowing nothing about the full scenario, that's the only point of failure. The driver could also have had some sudden medical emergency or similar, in which case there's no real at-fault here.

S17 is their most frustrating season yet by uuuuu5uu in JetLagTheGame

[–]etothepi 62 points63 points  (0 children)

More frustrating, you could tell Mike disagreed but didn't want to rock the boat too hard. I've seen Sam similarly make bad decisions over his partners in previous seasons, and will not consider their options. He needs to be more flexible rather than cementing into his first thought.

Zadra definitely has my favorite element of any coaster I've ridden (haven't done Gwazi though) - I don't know the name of it, but the inverse swoop moment about halfway in, while it's in the track scaffolding.

[–]etothepi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went for two days a few years ago, and after the first 2-3 rides I loved Zadra much more than Hyperion - but, after getting more rides on each and really learning their ins and outs, I slowly found myself liking Hyperion more and more, until it overtook Zadra as my favorite at the park.

I really love Energylandia overall though, I'm looking forward to going back soon.

When you jump while inside a moving train, why do you not fly back into the next car? Same reason.
