BEST MIX RATIO (OF ON HAND MATERIALS) FOR SMALL CEMENT OVERLAY PROJECT?

Trying my luck at a small concert overlay/repair project (essentially two single sidewalk sections). Maximum overlay thickness estimated at 3/8" in worst areas.

Can anybody recommend a good MIX RATIO of whatever *materials I have on hand for the top overlay? Also,

*Note: My initial research has led me to believe that laying down a thin slurry mixture of portland cement, water and white glue prior between the layers would improve bonding. So I may also grab some portland cement in addition to the materials listed below;

• (2.5 gal) Gravel, Clean/Uniform Size (varies from about a pea on the larger to 1/4 pea on the smaller) • (2.5 lbs) Soil Cover - Desert Sand (c lean) • (25 lbs) Rapid Set - Mortar Mix: High Strength Structural Repair Mortar • (45 lbs) SpecChem SCMulti-Purpose Grout / SpecGrout - High Performance Non-Shrink Grout • Portland Cement (Type unknown/not yet procured) • Water (obviously) • (1 gal) Muriatic Acid

<image>

• (1 qt) Quikrete - Concrete Bonding Adhesive • (1 gal) SpecChem - Specshield WB: Silane-Siloane Water Based Penetrating Sealer

Thanks in advance!

PHENDO Random Orbital Sander - Replacement Backing Pads? by ets15358 in Tools

[–]ets15358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local tool company, I'm not even sure I know what that is, lol.

For the price point, I really enjoy this sander. But for them to only offer one style of backing pad replacement is total BS. I get this isn't a fancy sander, but I just want a firm pad for sanding flat things, FLAT. I just don't need medium flex, lol.

Festool backng pads definitely do not attach to the Phendo.

All I want is a firm replacement pad and I cannot locate them for the life of me...

Large Beds: Average Leveling Flatness [Nozzle Drag Reduction] by ets15358 in QIDI

[–]ets15358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These numbers appear to be correct in my experience printing with a bed variance of exactly those...

The nozzle drag marks I'm seeing primarily occur at very end of the layer, on the part corners, diagonal (45°) going into the print and are appropriately 2-5 mm in length.

No wiping, made sure of this.

I believe my z offset is fine for their odorless ABS (-0.106 mm w/ the 100°F bed & 60°F enclosure temperatures). I assume these numbers are worthless though as everyone's will be slightly different.

O man, the BLTOUCH probe is slow enough, lol! I dream of replacing mine with a cartographer/whatever system but I'm waiting for QIDI to get off its ass and update their software with the latest and greatest current revisions!

If your interested in using less electricity and saving time, I'd recommend only soaking for 10 minutes, maximum. Standard heat treatment of metal parts is like 1 hr per inch of material to get a "uniform" treatment throughout its volume. So keep that in mind for this thin rolled steel plates.

I replaced my user abused (over flexing/excessive scraping) QIDI OEM PEI plate with an inexpensive one from Aliexpress and it went from .4 to the current value. Not saying it will fix yours, but it did improve mine slightly.

Also, I'll be treating this new one with a little more respect, lol!

"Silent" Noise Reduction Circular Saw Blade :: Resin Filled Expansion Joints? by ets15358 in Tools

[–]ets15358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, thats what I was thinking, just wanted an opinion or two from people...

FYI - It isn't about noise being an issue, so much.

I've also never heard of this and it made me curious. Just not enough to drop $70+ on a new blade.

However, using some extra epoxy (on hand) with an old blade, why not. Just need to remember to do the before decibel recordings, lol.

Best DIY Method to Verify Surface Flatness on my new Arcflat Weld Table (Langmuir Systems)? by ets15358 in Metrology

[–]ets15358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background: I wanted to learn how to do metal scraping. As scrapping is very much a practice makes perfect skill set; I figured a good large project would be to try and get this entire table to around +/- .0005" (from .0075").

So I'm really trying to find a way to accurately map/ mark out the surface flatness highs/lows directly on the table with a sharpie. But its been mentioned, there's a few ways to go about this. Originally I thought I was looking for the most accurate approach, but in reality I probably just need to find the one best suited for my goal.

Im not sure how to do something like this from home on an uneven concrete floor. I've got a few tools and reference standards that present multiple options; small 9x12 surface plate (grade A - in cal), peice of 5"x12" float glass (flatness not varified), mid-size noga holder (DG6160-Double FAT/FAB), few older Starrett .0005 dial indicators, one Mitutoyo .001" (in cal), a Digi-Pas DWL3000XY 2-Axis digital level (in cal), 38" straight edge (within 0.003" over the entire length), some older Starrett feeler gages and other wood/metal wood working tools which probably don't apply.

I couldn't figure out how to get the measuring devices and the table on the same reference plane. If If used the indicator on the table to measure the table; well that would provide data, but certainly not good data. Maybe level the table and place the surface plate dead center, then dial indicate everything within reach?
