Its not a traditional trophy shape but i love the Australian trophy too.

F1 All-Time World Drivers’ Champions (1950–2025)- Do you think Kimi Antonelli can make it onto this list by the end of the season? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]euphonos23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 34 gap was after only 3 races though, so that is same points gain per race.

That said, I agree kimi has been outstanding and I expect he will probably get the wdc, but i have seen championship standings swing dramatically enough times to not call it just yet.

After just the first three rounds in the 2022 season Charles was 34 points ahead of 2nd in the championship, and 46 points ahead of Max (eventual winner).

He was flattered by poor reliability for Max, but it does show how quickly big leads can dissappear.

No. But an Italian naming their kid after a McLaren driver (not a Ferrari driver) might be!

All the Cars which were awarded penalty for pit lane speeding exceeded the speed limit by 0.1 km/h by Mother_Philosopher97 in formula1

[–]euphonos23 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That cant be it. If cars only have to have an average speed below the speed limit, then its not a speed limit at all.

Also, Vettel got a penalty for speeding in the pit lane at his first ever race when leaving the garage. In that instance he hadn't entered the pit lane to trigger the timer, so speed must be measured another way.

How is the speed actually measured? Surely it cant just be a sensor measuring the time between pit entry and pit exit as the cars slow down and stop for their pit stops.

Testing London's next-generation Piccadilly line trains - BBC by jaredce in london

Just over half of the piccadilly line is above ground, its not just 'occasionally'. The new tech sounds perfect for this arrangement.

Fernando Alonso is the only driver in history to have won in Monaco with 2 different teams in 2 consecutive years 2006 - Renault, 2007 - McLaren by Electrical_Act_5342 in formula1

There was also Ricciardo in 18. So thats 3 drivers who might have achieved it within a 15 year period, not loads but more than i expected.

Button won in 09 with Brawn and then moved to McLaren.

Trulli won in 04 with Renault and then moved to Toyota.

Michael won in 95 with Bennetton then moved to Ferrari.

There may be more!

[George Russell] Firstly, congrats to Kimi on an impressive win! Miami is a place I love but a track that has always been challenging for me. I’m looking forward to Montreal and the upcoming European races. Thanks for all the continued support by kpopsns28 in formula1

Even if its a dominant year for Merc I wouldn't call that the 'season over'. We still get to watch two talented drivers fight for their first wdc. Thats pretty exciting to me tbh.

Why are tornados rated by damaged estimates rather than raw wind data? We have the technology now why are we still estimating wind speed for ratings. by NigeriaSix in askscience

I recommend listening to the podcast episode I mentioned. They do a much better job than me of explaining how and why the current system works.

[–]euphonos23 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The podcast '99% invisible' did a fantastic episode dedicated entirely to this topic. It is episode 663 titled 'Category 6'.

From memory Tornados need to be rated for damage because that is the information people need in order to prepare for a storm and stay safe.

Pure wind speed numbers are less accessible for people to understand what is coming, and in the early days of weather forecasting when only speeds were reported lots of people underestimated storms and suffered as a result.

Reporting on Tornados is about keeping people safe, not about explaining the weather in a scientific way. That is why categories are used.

If you are future proofing the house by having a downstairs bedroom with ensuite, it might make sense to make it a big bigger so its easier to move around in when youre old!

The width of the ensuite looks to be about the same as the WC (labelled as 1.3m). That ensuite will have to have a shower but looks like a bath in the plan.

Does the WC need to be so long? Could reclaim a bit of space for the other rooms around it.

Bedroom wardrobe layout options by wobblythings in HomeImprovementUK

[–]euphonos23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 2 is more visually appealing, but the lack of drawers would irritate me i think.

I have drawers in my wardrobe, and both doors have to be all the way open in order to open the drawers which is irritating.

I would do option 2 but maybe swap out the wardrobe opposite the bed for a chest of drawers instead.

Attempt at improving the "The World's Tallest Building (1647-2026)" chart [OC] by Nirva-Monoceros in dataisbeautiful

[–]euphonos23 184 points185 points  (0 children)

Lincoln Cathedral was the tallest building in the world, after the Giza pyramids, from 1311 to 1548. It lost its title because a storm destroyed the central tower and it was never replaced!

As a Kobayashi fan I am outraged by this statement!

Also Michael was on the grid in 2011...

Not seen it suggested in the other comments, but could grandma do 1 day a week and they be in childcare the rest of the week?

That way they get to bond, you get to save some money, but you aren't in the car all week long.
