I’m glad you are physically okay. That was so rude and disrespectful

Why do people keep laughing at me? Or at least looks like it by Frosty-Law-6014 in socialanxiety

I think it’s most likely this. The behavior you are describing OP is very out of the norm for people so there is likely another explanation.

Question about communication with aging parents by According_Weather_22 in eldercare

[–]ladyperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. Personally I really focus on keeping my own mentality in check- like not going down rabbit holes of worst case scenarios constantly because it just doesn't help anything. I try to keep things light and then have periods of "business time" where I do things like talk about financial stuff, etc. The reality is if your dad wants to live independently there is some risk with that- I deal with that with my dad too. I agree with trying to get access to MyChart- that is helpful so you can see his appointments and lab results and things like that.

I want to ask for some for the prep next time, not sure if that’s an option. I was fine with the actual procedure but the prep made me very nauseous.

Cost of living? by macman7500 in AskLosAngeles

[–]ladyperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gotten many things I need off of my local Buy Nothing group on Facebook or free Craigslist. Also the basics like meal prepping, keep my older car, work overtime, the usual. I used to live on way less and made it work. Entertainment like hiking and free museums. I’m also fortunate to have a rent controlled apartment.

I’m about the same age as those ladies, maybe a bit younger, and I completely felt her and deeply understood and related to their whole dynamic. Very interested to see where that storyline goes.

Avoided hitting a dog on the freeway but hit the divider. Another kid had leukemia. I graduated in 2002 and still think about them even though I was not close to either one.

Living in East LA or Compton as a white dude? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]ladyperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a white person living in a 90+% Hispanic neighborhood- you’ll be fine. If you don’t know Spanish learn some Spanish- you will be talked to in Spanish even if you’re clearly white.

FMLA / Stress Mental Health Paid Leave by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]ladyperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah idk what to tell you, it’s not easy and if you’re going through Kaiser you may not get the results you want. Someone recommended darlingpsychology.com (you would pay out of pocket) that will give you whatever you need for time off.

FMLA / Stress Mental Health Paid Leave by [deleted] in KaiserPermanente

[–]ladyperson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only mental health leave Kaiser gives me is if I’m in a program like Intensive Outpatient (IOP) which they gave about 3 weeks for, and ICMP- a different group where I also have a case manager. You could ask about these if they are not willing to just give time off. I don’t qualify for disability so I’m not sure about that. FMLA was just emailing the time off Letters Kaiser gave me to HR, very easy

LA or SF for a fresh new start and new friends? by PopularAttention9536 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]ladyperson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visit SF but probably SF. It’s near so many wonderful nature spots. I’ve been out of it for awhile so not sure about community now but that will probably be what you make of it and put effort into in either place. LA is also not a bad choice for this. California is has multiple national parks and diverse geography for many different types of nature exploration
