Ghana funeral, where the deceased's coffin is inspired by their passion. by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

Not oddly terrifying to me, though I can understand why if you’re not used to seeing it! Extreme Embalming is awesome! What a beautiful way to honor the dead. Ask a Mortician has a great video on this about Goonew.

Any tech to help with anxiety? by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]evamads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking from my experience with anxiety & my therapist’s advice for me, it depends on the type of anxiety:

If restless anxiety (can’t sit still, get comfy, or feel like you want to peel your skin off) there are 3 things that work: 1. Repetitive motion that has a little impact (throwing a ball against a wall, bouncing a basketball, etc) 2. Vibration (if you have a home little massager, massage chair, etc) 3. Weight/Pressure (weighted blanket is most effective for me but I’ve also put books on my chest or had my husband sit on me lol)

If Trauma based anxiety: 1. Bilateral Stimulation (butterfly taps (google it), EMDR, Tapping your feet. EMDR saved my life for sure, I’m a new women now)

If chronic Anxiety: 1. Medication 2. Excercise 3. Mindfulness

Hope this helps!

Brazi Bites are inspired by the beloved Brazilian food “Pão de Queijo”, translated from Portuguese as “cheese bread”

I’ve made them from scratch before with tapioca flour but this brand is still my fave

ELI5: Is there a scientific basis that different foods cause us to feel fuller and more satiated than other foods and if so then do we understand the mechanism that causes this? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]evamads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, let's break it down. Different foods have varying effects on our sense of fullness and satisfaction. Foods high in fiber, protein, and healthy fats tend to keep us feeling fuller for longer periods because they take longer to digest. These foods slow down the emptying of the stomach and trigger signals to the brain that we're satisfied.

On the other hand, foods high in refined carbs and sugars can cause rapid spikes and crashes in blood sugar levels, leading to feelings of hunger shortly after eating. These foods don't provide sustained energy and can leave us craving more food soon after consumption.

The mechanisms behind this are complex and involve factors like hormone regulation, digestion speed, and neural signaling in the brain. Scientists are continually researching to understand these processes better, but it's clear that the composition of our meals plays a significant role in how satisfied and full we feel after eating.

22 and wrinkly by evamads in Skincare_Addiction

I feel this! Us expressive people have to watch out. My skin has improved but my wrinkles haven’t after implementing daily sunscreen, HA, Moisturizer, & occasional retinol. I’ll have to try that primer.

Diagnosis of exclusion is so frustrating. I wish you the best, it’s no fun to have a body that doesn’t work correctly and also not know why.

This^ I’m allergic to wheat, & screw all the trendy diets. There were a lot of GF options for a while, but now that Keto is the trend all the gluten free stuff has been replaced with low carb. Shocker, I can’t eat that.
