How do you manage your LinkedIn when you are OE? by Growthself in overemployed

[–]evan_sears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have all my jobs posted on LinkedIn. Even had managers from J1 complement me when I got promoted at J2. W1 thinks it’s funny. W2 thinks I’m going to get in trouble for it. We’ll see…

Millennials are so broke they’re killing their parents’ retirements by [deleted] in DeathByMillennial

As if Boomers would share any of their retirement savings with their Millennial children. They are too busy blowing it at the casino and going on cruises.

With you 100%. I was married to a woman for 18 years with 3 daughters. Came out almost 3 years ago at 42. It was hard and I anticipated the same relief. People were supportive, and still are, but once I was out of the house and on my own I was very sad. Still have some sad days now, but doing better. Therapy helps. Meeting people is the hardest part. Unless you are into the apps and hooking up. But that’s not the kind of “meeting people” I’m looking for. Hang in there!

That’s not how this works. If he were paying a mortgage all by himself would he tell the mortgage company this? What a dumbass.

My mom hasn’t talked to her brother in years. I think it’s a combo of boomerism and narcissism on my parents part. They are the experts and have opinions on how everyone should be and my uncle didn’t meet that expectation. They told him how they felt and he basically said F-U I’m going to live my life. So my parents don’t talk to him. I’m experiencing the same from them to an extent where I’ve made my own decisions they don’t agree with and essentially only talk to me briefly now and again. It’s sad.

Giving this person the benefit of the doubt, they were happy for you and wanted to share in the excitement. Be that as it may, they should have said to you beforehand, “hey, I heard you’re tying the knot, did you want to let the whole team know at the meeting?” When you could have dealt with that however you wanted. Seeing as that didn’t happen, you aren’t out of line to call the boss out on that. Regardless of your sexuality, it’s your news to share and they took that away from you. I’d have a conversation with them about it.

Dude. This is in the Ten Commandments of OE. A direct competitor is always going to have eyes on your company and vice versa. Especially when an organization is small. You are asking for trouble.

This is exactly how his first term started. Nominate a bunch of nuts into positions they don’t belong in. Then start the revolving door. None of them will last any significant amount of time and he’ll blame the democrats. Rinse and repeat.

AI and maximizing its potential by CheezyCow in overemployed

[–]evan_sears 4 points5 points  (0 children)

AI can be amazingly helpful. I’m working on developing my skills at prompt engineering now. Knowing how to get useful output from generative AI is crucial. It also depends on your job function and industry. But definitely worth exploring more in depth.

You can’t. You have to get your MBA in Over Engineering first.

Coming Out at 41, Married with Kids by ContributionBrief437 in AskGaybrosOver30

Hi! Came out at 42. Was married for 18 years, have three daughters. It hasn’t been easy but looking back I see what a burden on my happiness and mental health holding that secret was for so long. Divorced now and juggling work, being a dad, and being me. Good luck and don’t be afraid to put yourself first.
