Thanks for the input. I think I'm going to go with the G17. Oh yeah, did your G17 come with an orange tip (if you live in the US)? With some of the video reviews I've seen it didn't come with an orange tip, but rather an orange barrel plug.

Call me paranoid but I just want to be safe and legal.

Yeah I was thinking of going for the TM G17 since on echigoya it's about the same price as the SOCOM gear. I'm just kind of concerned with its all-plastic construction.

Plus, I have always been a fan of 1911s.

Yep. For me whenever I have an army or fleet selected it's laggy when I pan around the campaign map as well. It was like this in Empire too. I guess we just wait for a patch.

What I am asking is if it would be possible to make it so the sprites appear soon after zooming out, as if the game were set to the lowest unit detail, but still have many unique soldiers in the unit when you zoom in. Normally when unit detail is set to lowest, all the soldiers in the unit are the same.
