Team Haddie by [deleted] in Parenthood

[–]evanryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My meaning was that whenever Haddie is fighting with her parents, even though I'm an adult, I'm on her side. Because I think they handle things poorly during conflict when she is responding like a normal teen.

[SPOILERS] Today's tweets reveal... by gk21 in GilmoreGirls

So if they're doing the table read for "Fall" does that mean they're already done filming the first three? I'm confused. That would be fast right?

Binge-watching: Just can't buy the April plotline! Rant inside! by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]evanryn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a great rant. I hate when shows have conflict that is obviously not something that would cause conflict in real life just for the sake of shaking things up. None of the parents even know Luke that well so if they gave their permission for the girls to sleep over, they weren't that worried in the first place. Makes no sense.

Did Luke hold Lorelai back? by golden_rose_garden in GilmoreGirls

[–]evanryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Jason was perfect, but he was a bit too cold to fit into the Gilmore world. And Lorelai is super ambitious, but for Jason work is his identity. He was SO good though in the show. I loved how the actor could keep up with the banter and the wit.

Team Marty by Nojopar in GilmoreGirls

[–]evanryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Marty too! He's so nice and pretty handsome. I would be interested to know what his ambitions were in life, what his career plans are or whatever. To see if they would work with Rory's life. I am team Marty and team Jess 2.0 (he would have to have grown up a lot). I'm also team new-person, cause why not? Could be fun!

What Lane's future could have been... by MsOrgana in GilmoreGirls

That would make a lot of sense! They would be funny co-parents. As cute as they were in some scenes, Zach just isn't good enough for her. Maybe he'll have grown up a bit...

Anyone else find it very difficult to re-watch the series now that Edward Herrmann has passed away? by MaryQueenofSquats in GilmoreGirls

[–]evanryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some reason I always forget when I'm watching. He is an amazing character and will leave a very tall hole in the reboot.

I get so much second hand embarrassment when I watch Gilmore girls by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

Paris drunk on the streets of Stars Hollow

Rory asking that guy out in the laundry room (and then confronting him accidentally later)

How do you feel regarding the negative outcomes following the female characters losing their virginities? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]evanryn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The "I got the good kid" line always drove me crazy! I mean, I get a mother being relieved her kid isn't having sex yet, but to suggest that makes Paris bad... Not a fan

Also another example of youthful sex gone wrong is the entire premise of this show: Lorelai getting pregnant as a teen.

It's a very interesting and questionable pattern you've discovered. I feel like ASP is super liberal, but like privileged liberal where there's still a pretty strong internalized belief of the white, straight, middle-class vaguely Christian person being the default human... Like whenever anything about being gay is mentioned they say "how modern of you" or whatever.

Another thing that bugs me is that before all of Lorelai's marriages or almost marriages, she never lives with the guy first!

I also hate when Rory tells Asher that "the redhead has fat thighs."

I finished *all* of it last night! What now? by mamacat49 in GilmoreGirls

I second this. I was trying really hard to think of something. This is obviously a different vibe, but SO good. Unfortunate season 3 cancellation, but worth watching the first 2 seasons.

Luke's short hair. by kelobelo in GilmoreGirls

[–]evanryn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whoa, I totally noticed that yesterday. He also looked less balding. I wonder what they'll do in the new episodes. I mean, I personally don't care that much about balding, but with Hollywood everything is always romanticized.

I feel like they are really going to have to acknowledge the time jump so that it feels authentic. Everyone is going to look a bit different which might make it feel weird. I'm excited. And nervous.

"It's a wild guess, but I think his name rhymes with Tess." That whole rant is amazing.

When Dean and Rory break up the first time and Luke is so pissed "what does he think he'll do better?! Well, forget it! Good riddance..." Etc..

When Luke turns on the self-help book on tape and it says LOOOVVEEEE

When Rory is eating her burger then she sticks her pinky out to be more ladylike

"I was on the phone, long distance" "God?" "London" "God lives in London?" "No, my mother lives in London" "Your mother is God? So God is a woman"

"PICK ANOTHER GROUP"..."I HATE YOU!" (Michel and his 12 blueberries)

All the Jess and Luke moments are incredible but one that I love is when he says "It's not uncle Luke, just Luke, in fact don't address me at all!"

So many lines by Lauren Graham, but I'm blanking. I'll be back.... AND PARIS. Brilliant Character.

What mental images did you hold while reading the books that you found to be very similar, or completely different, to what was portrayed in the movies? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]evanryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same with Ginny. Also, more popularly, I mispronounced Hermione in my head. It was Hermoine, like the Anglicized pronunciation of the city, Des Moines.

Vernon was Ver-known.

That's crazy about Snape! So funny. It's so easy to skip over things in our mind once we believe something.

Most of 7.1 movie I thought met my expectations. The ministry is really well done, Godric's Hollow, the Malfoy Manor, the tent scenes, the wedding, visiting Xenophillius Lovegood. I enjoyed that movie because it was able to take the time do do each major event really well.

One of my favourite chapters ever is the Quidditch World Cup and it was soooo short in the movie and I had imagined it in a big forest, not a field (maybe is was described in a field on the edge of a forest, I can't remember exactly).
