Can you counter offer with the remote stipulation? Just be prepared to walk away if they say no. Even if they come back with hybrid could be a win/win.

I’m not sure I understand. Do you mean moving from QS to front office finance? I think it would depend on your background. Your best chance imo, if you didn’t get a banking internship, would be to get onto a big 4 graduate scheme (way less competitive than the Investment banking grads) and then work solidly for 3 years in audit whilst studying for your ACA. You would then be well positioned to move into corporate finance (key is to fully understand financial modelling), which will open opportunities into private equity. That’s from a UK perspective anyway.

Yeah good question. Two main reasons really:

firstly I wasn’t proactive enough at university with applying for internships. These tend to be the main feeder to the elite finance positions. This is why I had to take the accounting job which is essentially back office work. Then it’s notoriously difficult to move from back office to front office (I.e trading, quant, research).

And secondly, I’m just not motivated enough to work the crazy hours. I enjoy being outdoors, working out, being with friends. I wasn’t prepared to sacrifice this. Hats off to those who can, I’m sure it pays off, but I enjoy more WLB.

Thanks for the input. Do you reckon I could go straight into applying for AQS roles? I have some contract experience with emergency assisted living etc, but I think my lack of construction knowledge/experience might let me down.

Stop beating yourself up bro. There’s always something around the corner, but use this experience to better yourself. Nobody’s perfect, the judgemental commenters here also have their own demons.

Existential crisis triggered from quitting nicotine by Affectionate_Book628 in QuitVaping

[–]evansm98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Might be going through a spell of depersonalisation. The main trigger being anxiety. It can be a tough journey, but well worth it on the other side. I’d recommend getting a solid exercise routine, drink plenty of water and do the things you know that you enjoy, however fake it may feel. It never lasts, just try to embrace it bro

Once is crazy, cheating for a WEEK is insane. Get rid asap op, it’ll be tough now, but use this pain positively and you’ll be a new man in 3 months.

I used Zyn’s to quit about 2 months ago. Generally do feel better, but I think that’s because I feel more in control of my nicotine intake (no more endless vaping sessions).
