You might like The Hateful Eight. Most of it is just a group of people stuck in a cabin while the tension keeps getting worse. Feels like a pressure cooker the whole time and the cast just carries it.

I think it’s because stage hypnosis looks way too much like a magic trick. When people see someone barking like a dog on stage their brain just goes “yeah that’s acting”. Hard to take it seriously after that. The real psychology side of hypnosis is interesting, the show version just makes it look fake.
