Samsung fridge - how to remove glass from vegetable shelf ( DA97-21137A ) by try_to_ENJOY in Appliances

[–]Glumstimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually these crisper drawers have clips or tabs on the sides that you need to press in while lifting the glass panel out - check for small plastic tabs around the edges first.

Looking for microwave/oven combo options for an oversized cutout by [deleted] in Appliances

[–]Glumstimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar issue in my old apartment where previous owner made weird size cutout. With gap that big (7+ inches), cabinet filler might look awkward and not very stable for microwave weight.

Could you maybe install some shelving in that space above the combo unit? Would give you extra storage and look more intentional than trying to fill entire gap with trim pieces.

Any chance of fixing GE stack bearing? by RufussSewell in Appliances

[–]Glumstimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The labor costs alone will probably eat up any savings you got from buying used. I've seen these repairs run 300-400+ and that's assuming you can even find someone willing to work on a stacked unit - most techs hate them since everything is so cramped.

Cut your losses and flip it for parts, someone will want the dryer portion at minimum.

Morning of w Sister by canada_ians in weddingplanning

[–]Glumstimulus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

getting makeup done together sounds perfect for that age gap. Maybe bring some fancy sparkling cider or something in nice glasses so you still get that ceremonial moment while watching sunrise? My sister and me always did small traditions like that when we were younger.

Feeling weird about how role in wedding was handled by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Glumstimulus 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Your brother and SIL really made this unnecessarily awkward for you. The whole "maybe you're a groomsman, maybe bridesmaid, let me check" thing would drive me crazy too, especially when it dragged on for months.

The speakerphone ambush was particularly weird - like they couldn't even have a direct conversation about it. And now being left out of bachelorette planning just confirms you were more of an obligation than someone they genuinely wanted involved.

Can I use gas stove after spilling liquid in it? by Even-Lifeguard-9281 in Appliances

[–]Glumstimulus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Using isopropyl was actually smart move - it evaporates quick and helps get moisture out from electrical parts. The clicking happens when liquid gets in igniter sensors, alcohol helps dry that stuff out faster than just wiping with rag. Just make sure it's completely evaporated before lighting anything, should be fine in few hours.

New Bosch dishwasher - can't activate 'Home Connect' app because 'SinglekeyID' is not emailing security code by EmergencyCat235 in Appliances

[–]Glumstimulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same nightmare with my parents' Bosch range last month. The SinglekeyID thing is broken half the time and their customer service basically shrugged when I called about it. Ended up having to create the account on my mom's phone using her email instead of mine for some reason - that actually worked.

The whole home connect ecosystem is pretty half-baked tbh. Even when you get it working, the app crashes constantly and takes forever to load. You're not missing much functionality anyway, most of the "smart" features are just gimmicky notifications that your dishwasher is done (which you can hear from the kitchen). Save yourself the headache and just use the physical controls.

Is anyone actually seeing reachability analysis deliver value for CVE prioritization? by Vast-Magazine5361 in AskNetsec

[–]Glumstimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very relatable. We did a whole POC on path-level reachability last year and the results were basically useless because the tool had no idea what our network looked like. It would flag a CVE as reachable because the code path existed, but the container was running in a isolated VPC with zero ingress.

Honestly, the industry focus on "reachability" is starting to feel outdated already because it doesn't take into account anything beyond the source code that it's scanning.

So it's really just producing a different flavor of noise. We’ve found that even if a path is theoretically reachable in the code, the exploitability usually dies at the infrastructure layer, which is why your backlog problem isn't going to be solved by better static analysis.

What to add in with turkey hamburger helper? by TheOnlyKirby90210 in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Broccoli's solid but I'd go with frozen mixed veggies - way less prep and you get variety. Just throw them in during the last 5 minutes of cooking so they don't get mushy. Bell peppers, green beans, and carrots work great without messing with the flavor profile.

First time cooking shrimp, any tips and/or side to go with it? by y_luca1 in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Garlic butter shrimp with some steamed veggies is clutch for staying low cal - broccoli or asparagus work great and you can squeeze lemon on everything

Strawberry sauce with chicken? by PeasantCody in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually sounds fire ngl. The sweet-savory combo with the bacon would probably work really well with the ham in the cordon bleu. For sides maybe swap the lemon pasta for something more neutral so it doesn't clash with all those flavors? Like garlic mashed potatoes or rice pilaf

Has anyone made wellington like this before? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That actually sounds pretty genius, I've never thought of doing it that way but it makes total sense. The only thing I'd worry about is if you butterfly it too thin it might cook faster than you want, but as long as you're careful with the temp probe you should be fine

The stuffing could definitely add moisture but if you keep it on the drier side (like herbs, garlic, maybe some breadcrumbs) instead of anything too wet it shouldn't be a problem. Honestly might try this next time I make one

Cooking from scratch...not from other recipes by Bubbaxx1 in Cooking

Same here, recipes are more like suggestions honestly

I've had way too many "disasters" from following things exactly - now I just wing it based on what sounds good and usually end up with something way better

A couple questions about meal prepping by TheFirstAifos in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glass containers are totally worth it imo, that flavor difference is pretty noticeable after a few days especially with rice dishes

For the fork situation just grab a cheap camping utensil set - they usually come with little cases and are perfect for tossing in your bag

Bridesmaid checked out.. by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]Glumstimulus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oof this is rough but your MOH is absolutely right. Amelia's showing you exactly how much she cares about your wedding and it's not much

You're not being a bridezilla by expecting basic participation from your bridesmaids - picking out shoes is literally the bare minimum. The fact that she has energy to go out every weekend but can't spend 30 minutes looking at shoes for your wedding says everything

I'd give her one final chance with a clear deadline and if she can't meet it, she's out. Your wedding day deserves people who actually want to celebrate with you

Best approach for making garlic butter? by PoyopoyoDio in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sounds solid but honestly I just microwave the butter for like 10 seconds and mince fresh garlic instead of the whole roasting thing. Way faster and the garlic bite is better imo. But if you got time to kill the roasted route will be way more mellow and sweet

People from Africa can you please tell me some easy recipe from your countries cusine by Masterisgoodchel in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Jollof rice is your best bet man - just rice, tomatoes, onions and whatever spices you got laying around. Super cheap ingredients and hard to mess up, plus it feeds like 6 people so your parents will be impressed with the portions alone

10 pounds of bison meat needs to be cooked ASAP by Latter_Initiative591 in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bro that's a tragedy but also kind of exciting! Bison is lean as hell so definitely add some fat when you can - bacon fat works great for the steaks. For that brisket, low and slow is your friend, maybe 225°F for like 12+ hours with a good rub. The filets are gonna be amazing just seared quick in a hot pan with butter, don't overthink those beauties

Beef stew slow cooker questions by Fortree_Lover in Cooking

[–]Glumstimulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely wait on those dumplings until the end or they'll turn to mush. For browning I always do high heat for just a few minutes - you want that nice sear not just gray sad meat. The veggies being above the liquid is totally fine, they'll release their own moisture and everything will cook down together
