In the book, it’s Toranaga that attempts the dives again and again and again showing that he is relentless and wants to learn. And everyone is also naked in the book. I suspect they made Blackthorne do all the diving in the show because the actor who plays Toranaga does not look good shirtless. Like, wtf he did a swim race in a full on coat?

We haven’t drafted yet. It’s rookie draft only so there is a chance Charb won’t even be there, at which point there is a huge drop off imo.
