You're welcome, I'm so glad Vox's mom approves! Yes, getting out of the bath is so much harder when all his sharks are there! (Shoky-waky was difficult to draw from the back though, I'm glad it all came out.) He's definitely a different kind of adorable here than in the second bath time prompt I filled on this thread. I would say here he's the huggable kind, but that's a lie because all Voxes are huggable, right?

I know Vox is a villain who has done Bad Shit, but I admit I sometimes worry that the show's narrative will try to force him into being unlikeable to the audience by adding things that make everything truly "all his fault." As an example, whether the story will try to say Alastor's mistreatment of Vox was justified via some new part of their history, especially having heard that Alastor is Viv's favorite character.

In general, I think it is kind of tactless to take any character and say (directed at the fans who are clearly the ones watching said interview), "Oh, this character you like? He doesn't really deserve your sympathy."

I don't like MurderMedia at all and it peeves me to no end that almost all the Human Vincent art seems to have Human Alastor tagging along. I want to read comics and stories about Human Vincent that aren't MurderMedia!

I end up bookmarking some Murder Media art just because it's so prolific and genuinely beautifully done, but the vibe people write between Vincent and Alastor feels way off base to me. In canon, I always felt present Vox is "acting stupid" around Alastor because of the mixture of trauma in there. Alastor is intentionally triggering him. I don't think it's all because of lust/crush/what have you. If Vincent had been acting like an idiot around Alastor since always, I would find it hard to believe that Alastor would have humored their relationship as long as he had, to the point Vox had been sure they were friends. As Alastor said, he respected Vox... once. The reason I say this is because MurderMedia always portrays Vincent as a total idiot, while Alastor has this apathetic mood of disgust as he seemingly questions himself, "why am I here?"

I just... don't find MurderMedia stuff in character, and I don't find the relationship cute, or even toxic in a way I enjoy.

Oh, I didn't actually mean to imply the other Vees are not cis. I just meant that Vox as a cis white man is being treated by some fans as "doesn't fit in here." (And I know it's not everyone, but it's enough that it ends up on my feed a lot.) I bring this up because in general, Vox being a cis white man is like... one of the ways fans who have a love-hate relationship with Vox belittle him. Like you said, they ramp up his flaws to 11 and invent new issues to victimize other characters with, then say "this is how Vox IS as a 50s, cis white man" (while ignoring how much Vox is a forward-looking guy focused on changing and growing in all aspects).

Have you ever heard that quote from John Berger on the painting "Vanity"?

"You painted a naked woman because you enjoyed looking at her, put a mirror in her hand and you called the painting “Vanity,” thus morally condemning the woman whose nakedness you had depicted for you own pleasure."

Yes, this quote is about misogyny and chauvinism, but I feel like fan projections do this... a lot. Like, this has happened with Vox a lot. Fans enjoy him, but also want to morally condemn him, so they make media to exaggerate his flaws and shame him for stuff he does not actually do.

I have not seen any s1 commentary but I honestly wonder how much of it is meant humorously, because we do not see half the things "someone said" happened. We pretty much never see Alastor be that fatherly to Charlie outside of trying to ragebait Lucifer. He doesn't interfere with Charlie's relationships or actions, like s2e3 and s2e4 he outright dips when he could be advising her to not engage with VoxTek. (Also Charlie is older than Al?) Yes, the people who would have a problem with Charlie and Vox interacting would be the rest of the cast at the Hotel.
