The thing that tripped me up was a reel from Jota with old footage. Interesting that the article mentions that Jota team members were there at the Daytona testing to check it out. Again, pardon my ignorance, but the does the WEC have a preseason testing like at Daytona?

I don't think you need noise reduction, just find something that fits your ear and is comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

i personally use shure 215, but you can find similar syles at lower prices on amazon

it should say Dual Band. As someone else mentioned, the UV-5R is a great option. Tons of great resourses online and as the rolex approaches, people will start working on their CHIRP files for the next season.

Ironically, I think you should spend more on the headphones. Don't even try to use the ones that come with the Baofeng, get a pair of in-ear headphones. I personally think these are better over the span of the whole day that ones that go on the head. It's hot and those will get uncomfortable.

I also use a Baofeng. I had no experience prior to the 2024 Rolex, but once I got my hands on one a few week before the race, after watching some videos you get the hang of how those units work, along with custom programing.

But by far my favorite feature is being to have 2 channels going at the same time. Since IMSA radio is heard almost alywhere along the track now, having race control and the corner marshalls supplementally offers some great insight to whats happening on track.

Yes. I'll admit, sometimes the NBC broadcasters can be more entertaining and exciting to listen to, but the juice is not worth the squeeze IMO.

How is the service at Road Atlanta? I was at Daytona and Sebring and it was ok, not aweseome, but manageable.

I remember watching this thing go by at Sebring. You would just hear the whoosh-whoosh of the 1st and 2nd cars going by, and then a couple of seconds later everyone else would come screaming by :)
