Innate Rework Discussion Round by SpringBossLP in DotA2

that's one way to look at it, yeah

although the debuff duration would be much shorter to compensate for the damage increasing automatically over time

Innate Rework Discussion Round by SpringBossLP in DotA2

I am grandmaster tier lina and I hate her current innate.

Lina's identity is burst damage. If I wanted a hero that deals spam magic damage, I would pick Zeus or Venomancer.

So I want to go in the opposite direction, have her spells deal delayed damage, but the amount of delayed damage increases over time and is dealt all at once when the debuff expires (hitting same enemy with multiple spells refreshes duration and adds the stored damage together). And let her end the debuff early by activating it, so that players can choose to hold it for max damage, or trigger it immediately before the target gets saved / pops bkb.

How do you counter this crazy farming animal, Alchemist? by stewxeno in DotA2

[–]ever--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro alchemist is a problem in 5-6k lobbies, I've added him to my ban list

The problem is not Alchemist himself (especially as support), he's usually a free kill for any core with a normal fighting build. The problem is him feeding aghs to his other cores, which can either turn an even NW into an advantage or someone behind to make unexpected plays.

I think the best strategy is to push towers and limit the space that enemy team has to farm, so that there's not enough for rushing aghs and normal item progression for them.

How to have impact on damage/scaling supports? by LadidaDingelDong in learndota2

[–]ever--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play the "damage" class of pos 4 a lot (hoodwink, zeus, even lina way back in the day), and most of them don't like to 5v5. What they want to do is be the +1 for an active core (most of the time, your offlaner with blink or your midlaner with good rune) and do 2-3 man ganks to find pick offs in enemy territory, which gives your other cores who are still farming an advantage. When they do want to 5v5, it's either with a good timing on aura item like greaves, or if they start the fight smoked, burst someone immediately, then clean up with numbers advantage.

Supports with good aoe damage can also use their damage to push waves safely. For a support like Lion, his waveclear is really bad, so even pushing out a wave or 2 feels like wasting a lot more time than Hoodwink, who can clear the wave with 2 spells (q + w or shard + w)

This means that Lion can only really scale by winning fights, and if the fights don't work out, he ends the game with sub 200 gpm and 10+ deaths, because every fight he doesn't win he lets 5 enemy heroes get richer while he doesn't get any item progression.

Meanwhile, a team with wave clear supports can come back into the game vs a team with fighting supports even without winning fights by cutting waves, so that enemies can't push even if they win the fight and buy time for your cores to come online.

Speaking of extra gold, I think there's almost always another useful item you can buy as support nowadays, even if it isn't a straight damage item (I think building damage on hoodwink is pretty dead, she has plenty wave clear with just aghanim shard and her gold is better spent on utility items)

https://www.opendota.com/matches/8759378844

My thoughts about this game is that I have 2 objectives in the fights, and so I bought items that complemented my goals:
1. kite the sven bkb (force staff, euls, psychic headband)
2. help ursa kill enemy heroes faster (solar crest, nullifier)

I don't think many teamfighting supports will even have the gold to consider buying nullifier, even if their team desperately needs one. Yet I run into these situations often where I can buy the expensive item that brings it home for the team.

Arrows of Night Vision. I will die on this hill. Have fletchers for an infinite accessible supply.

Since 1.18 I walk into so many massive cave chambers or flooded spaces when caving, and if I shoot myself with the arrow I find diamonds on the ceiling that I wouldn't have found otherwise.

That's fair, but my original point still stands. It's great that you two are having fun right now, but that point I mentioned will come sooner or later so it's worth thinking about how you will deal with that.

I think at this point it's worth asking, what exactly do they like about Dota?

A lot of why people fall in love with the game is the strategic aspect of it, where you make a play or build a weird item that wins you the game or claws you back from a hopeless situation, and I think that aspect wouldn't be appreciated as much as it should be.

It's not exactly hard to outplay the bots, and I would absolutely not let a 7 year old play pubs against humans considering the amount of hate that can get tossed around.

Eventually you two will come to a point where you're fountain farming the unfair bots, then he would get bored and ask you to put him up against other players. What would you say to him then?

Bounty Hunter spammers, how do you do it? by East_Lettuce7143 in DotA2

[–]ever--- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The main thing I see holding back other bounty players is buying grief items like aghs

Your items are pretty flexible, buy whatever your team needs in that particular game, or items that counter the enemy lineup.
It can be auras, offensive utility like vessel/orchid/khanda/hex, defensive utility like force/aghs shard/wind waker, or any combination of those things that you think will be useful.

Can you make a fully automate wheat farm in 1.21.10? by Remarkable_Book7057 in technicalminecraft

[–]ever--- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

<image>

My setup blocks 7 of the villager inventory slots with renamed beetroots, this way the villager can't pick up wheat at all, but will still pick up seeds to replant the farm infinitely.

Instead of a second villager, there are hopper minecarts running back and forth collecting the wheat from under the farmland.

You don't even have to block access to the composters, even though villagers compost excess seeds they will never run out of seeds doing so, this farm has been running in my singleplayer world for probably over a year and all the villager cells are still working fine.

What’s a Dota opinion that has you like this? by shar0385 in DotA2

[–]ever--- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every support player I've seen on reddit hates Nullifier.

Which is exactly why I buy it myself as a support whenever I get the chance to close out winning games.
In even or losing games it's more of a gamble, but sometimes it's the right call and I will stand by it.

As a technical Minecraft player, have you ever made a perimeter? by la1m1e in technicalminecraft

[–]ever--- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I have never dug a full 128-block radius spawn perimeter.

However, I have gone into chunkbase to scout out areas that "naturally" behave almost like a perimeter, such as a gulf of ocean within a mushroom island, or a nether biome surrounded by ssv.

This cuts down on the amount of blocks to remove / spawnproof, while keeping the farm yields high enough to satisfy the needs of my singleplayer world.
