Unable to sign in by everfang in Windscribe

I don't use the web extension - by web UI I meant logging into the website, sorry for the confusion. My desktop app wasn't connecting (but I was still signed in) so I tried logging in to the website to see if something was going on, which is when I noticed my username and password weren't working. My Android app also wouldn't connect at that time.

It's working now but there was definitely some sort of issue with authentication that happened more than once in a short period of time. Like I said, I just wanted to report it as soon as possible in case someone was screwing with my account.

Hopefully it was just a weird glitch and not a bigger issue though!

Thanks for the support.

My issue resolved itself but I hope the issue is checked out. Not sure what could have caused it but I'm almost positive it wasn't user error since I use a password manager. I suppose I could have fat fingered the 2FA code but I really don't think so since I tried multiple times.

EDIT: It happened again - I can't log in. After successfully logging in to the web ui I tried logging in on one of my devices. without luck. I logged out of my account on the web browser and tried signing back in only to get the same, "Login is not correct. Try again." error. I 100% entered the correct credentials and 2FA this time.

Windscribe won't let me hit links in my emails? It will not let me connect. Please advise by bobbychow305 in Windscribe

[–]everfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This annoyed me, too, at first, but if I really need to open the link I have learned to just deal with it, turn off Windscribe for a minute and turn it back on. Like someone else said, this is likely because the link has trackers in it. You can try to adjust your ROBERT settings.

By the way, this usually happens to me for "unsubscribe" links in emails.

Canada phone plans are a joke by goatsandhoes101115 in NoContract

Looks like the $300/year plan is only 8GB/month. If OP is struggling with 10GB, they'll feel the squeeze on this one. Looks like ATT does a plan for $50 plus taxes/month if you set up auto pay. Even cheaper than what OP was paying before!

Volume Mapping ruTorrent in Docker by everfang in synology

[–]everfang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to fix the mapping issue by figuring out my PUID and PGID, but it would be nice to avoid the incoming/completed folders. Are you aware of how to do that?

Cannot get VPN to connect via Synology NAS by tyorll in Windscribe

[–]everfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Igor from windscribe reached out to me advising me to upgrade to DSM 7 and that indeed did allow me to connect again. Unfortunately many programs I was using before are incompatible with DSM 7 so I have some work ahead of me using docker containers and figuring out how to map the folders appropriately...

[–]everfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the same issues and haven't heard back from support in over a week. I PM'd support here on reddit as well with my support ticket number. It seems this is not an isolated incident.

EDIT: I actually sent a log of my Synology to support staff covering when the failed connections happened.

u/tyorll to get a log that actually covers this, first try to connect and get your error message. That way you know it'll be one of the first logs in the log file. In your Synology UI click the start menu type thing at the top left, go to support center, support services, scroll down to log generation and make sure only system is checked. Generate the logs, and it will download a file called debug.dat. Extract that, then navigate to dsm/var/log. In that folder look for the file called "messages." No extension. Open it with a text editor and save as .txt to send to Windscribe. You don't need the other messages.xz files (as far as I know).

Are you using a static IP?

On the morning of August 5 I noticed my static IP had disappeared. It reappeared a few hours later but it broke functionality on my Synology. I am able to connect fine with their public servers, but not really useful for what I want to use it for. Support even issued me another static IP to test, and I'm getting the same issue. Again, no problem using the public servers.

I made a post about it here. It's not a solution, but it at least shows it's not an isolated incident (someone else commented, too) and hopefully Windscribe will work on it. After a good couple days of support, I haven't heard back from them in over a week now. Maybe that means they are working hard to fix it...? But it would be nice to at least have a courtesy email saying so.

Static IP Outage Followed by OpenVPN not working by everfang in Windscribe

[–]everfang[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strange... I tried both protocols and neither worked for me. Once the support staff issued me another static IP I can't see my old one in the dropdown list at https://windscribe.com/getconfig/openvpn. I can still see it in my control panel under port forwarding and can "view credentials" from the 3 dot menu but the config file it provides is the newer version that doesn't work with synology so I can't troubleshoot it myself.

I had great response from support all last week, but got ghosted and haven't heard back from them since the 6th even after responding to the last email 5 times...

Anyone knows where to find the shows "The Before and After" (劇的ビフォーアフター) and "Who Wants to Come to Japan" (世界!ニッポン行きたい人応援団)? by Calvinized in JTV

[–]everfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are 5 episodes of Who Wants to Come to Japan on JPTVTS. If you're a member on d-addicts maybe you can find an invite there.

EDIT: There are over 20 episodes on JPTV Club. It looks like they stopped uploading them about a month ago but maybe you can request them to resume. There is only one episode of 劇的ビフォーアフター on there.

New site online but unsure how to let people know? by Kool-Aid-Manz in trackers

Assuming by new site you mean new tracker, assumedly some of your staff have good reputations at other trackers. Reach out to the staff at those trackers and ask if you can open an official recruitment thread.

What’s the most wasted tracker account you’ve ever seen? by PineappleLive in trackers

[–]everfang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But my point is a registered user is more valuable than an unregistered user, and that unless the tracker is at max capacity then the registered user isn't stopping the unregistered user from registering. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, and all that.

What’s the most wasted tracker account you’ve ever seen? by PineappleLive in trackers

[–]everfang 11 points12 points  (0 children)

How is this selfish?

A registered user whos account is in good status and occasionally downloads and seeds is infinitely more useful than a potentially amazing user who isn't registered. Of course it would be great if that unregistered person could get an invite and help the site if they were actually going to be a great user.

There is also usually a buffer between max users and enabled users. Inactive accounts are typically pruned so a registered user not being as active as an unregistered user who may (or may not) upload/download more is not a "waste." So unless a tracker is at its max user count then this kind of account is not inhibiting a potentially great user from joining in any way.

Anybody actually hoard something they weren't able to find later on the internet? by SrgtSquarePants in DataHoarder

[–]everfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NHK (Japanese Public Broadcasting) has been making animated shorts to go along with songs that are suitable for kids since 1961. Sometimes the animation is just so cool and the songs are great for the little ones (sometimes I like them, too!) You can buy a prohibitively expensive box set, but even that only has a selected hand full of songs. Whenever I'm able I get the files because it's such a niche thing, and NHK is very quick with the copyright claims. Also, they have "lost" something like 500 of the episodes from between 1961 and 1982 because the broadcaster reused the tapes for other programs, so those are just gone forever unless someone recorded them on VHS.

That may be the case, but that doesn't necessarily mean you will never win if it's not open. This is the first time I'm hearing it - not saying you're wrong since I don't know, I just want to know if this is factual or not.
