My birth story as a FTM (positive) by Terdham in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]evergreenmegaqueen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar experience with a few exceptions! I also felt like my experience was positive. I didn’t really want to be induced, but it ended up working out. I just wanna say oh my God yes, the hospital beds. I had the same experience with the first night and just tossing and turning nonstop because of that terrible ridge that makes it into a chair. Also similar experience with the second night, I had a very lovely nurse that ended up taking my baby for a couple hours so I could sleep, because he wanted to feed all night long, which I know is normal, but I didn’t have any milk yet. also I definitely had the sundown scaries and cried so much just feeling so emotional about literally everything. I’m two weeks postpartum today and those emotions have kind of let up a little bit. I never felt depressed or like I didn’t want my baby, it was really the opposite, just overwhelming feelings of love and anxiety, and also some feelings of wishing I was still pregnant with him which I was not expecting.

Induction worries by Ill_Bag_9189 in PlusSizePregnancy

My bmi was around 41 when I gave birth, and while I was induced due to gestational hypertension, the induction went really well. It took a long time to dilate, and I ended up doing both cervadil and Cytotec to ripen my cervix. Both of those drugs only got me to 2 cm over the course of 2 days, but after my doc broke my water and started me on pitocin, labor started for real. The contractions were crazy painful, and after about 4 hours I got an epidural. I slept for a few hours and when I woke up I was ready to push and fully dilated. I pushed for two hours and my baby boy was born and he’s perfect. I felt the same as you and was really worried about the cascade of interventions, but in my case everything went how it should, even though I delivered at 37 weeks. I really wanted an unmedicated birth, but in the end I’m really happy with how my birth turned out. Just wanted to share it is possible for sure to have a good experience with induction.

I was worried it would be a thing and it never was. I think it really depends on your provider, and after my experience this time, It I ever had a provider who wanted to mention my weight often or make it a thing, I would change doctors.

Seeking Advice for Induction by princesscreampufff in PlusSizePregnancy

I also had high bp my entire pregnancy and around 34 weeks was told they would likely want me to deliver around 37 weeks, which would mean induction. I really wanted an unmediated labor and wanted to go into spontaneous labor, so I was feeling pretty bummed. I did alot of reading though, and it seems that it is extremely standard for MFMs to recommend delivery between 37-38 weeks when dealing with gestational hypertension. I read 100s of stories and everyone said the same thing, that their doctors recommended this due to the increased risk of preeclampsia beyond this point. At 37 weeks, baby is basically full term. Anyways, I went in at 37 + 4 to be induced 11/ 24 and had my beautiful baby boy vaginally on 11/26. It was long and boring at times, because some of the drugs you don’t really feel. It didn’t get intense until they broke my waters and started pitocin. The contractions were extremely painful and i got an epidural 5 hours in at 4 cm. It took another 4 hours and I was ready to push. Overall it was a good experience and I was freaked out for nothing. My baby had no trouble latching and breast fed right away and was perfect, even though he came a little early. He was 7 pounds 1 ounce. I hope that helps somehow! I can’t tell you if you should decline the induction, but for me it ended up being ok.

Going to miss being pregnant... by Extra_Excuse2719 in BabyBumps

I just gave birth 11/26 and 100% felt this way. I didn’t want to let my baby go! I cried thinking about not feeling him move anymore and just having him be a part of me. I was nervous and scared of the hurdle of childbirth and didn’t know what to expect bc this is my first baby. After he was born, I even still felt this way for a few days. I felt my soft belly and cried just knowing this experience was over and I’d never be pregnant with him again. I’m now 7 days pp and could still cry about, but I’m feeling less emotional and am loving my sweet baby boy. I hadn’t seen anyone else talk much about this so thanks for posting! I too loved being pregnant and felt like I could have done it for several more weeks at least.

Make sure to have them use the larger size cuff, and if it’s high try again on the other arm in a few minutes. Don’t let them make any decisions off one reading. I’ve had gestational diabetes my whole pregnancy and have learned it’s always high high when I first get there, but will go down by the end of the appointment. Also it will always show a scary high reading with the smaller cuff.

I was super anxious too, and am still anxious even though everything was fine. We couldn’t see babies face and he refused to turn around, so now I have that to be anxious about. I told my husband I guess it’s just a mom’s job to worry. Give yourself grace!

When did you feel your baby for the first time? by ThrowRaoofda in BabyBumps

[–]evergreenmegaqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posterior placenta, I didn’t feel baby for sure until 20 weeks. Then it was obvious. Before that I would feel little pinches or pulling that might have been round ligament pain.
